Sammy Guevara reportedly suspended from AEW

Fightful Select has reported that Sammy Guevara was suspended from AEW following his No Disqualification match against Jeff Hardy at the 2/14 Rampage taping.

Hardy was injured during the bout when Guevara’s knee collided with his face on a shooting star press attempt.

The former TNT Champion went on with to hit his finisher before making the pin to end the match, which the report states was not proper concussion protocol.

Details regarding the length of the suspension were not disclosed as of time of writing.

Guevara has competed only once since the incident, facing Powerhouse Hobbs on the 2/24 episode of Collision.

This marks the second suspension for Guevara, who was previously suspended for 30 days and attended sensitivity training when crass remarks he made on a podcast in 2016 came to light in 2020.

Bryan Alvarez has since reported that Hardy suffered a broken nose but not a concussion, though he has not competed since and there is no timetable for a return as of this writing.
