Mercedes Mone’ made her AEW debut on Wednesday night’s Dynamite: Big Business, live on TBS from TD Garden in her hometown of Boston.
According to Fightful Select, sources have confirmed that Mercedes Moné has been on the AEW payroll for “well over two months.” It’s believed she is under a multi-year deal, but this has not yet been confirmed by the publication.
Fightful Select also notes that Mone’s will still be expected to work for NJPW after her run last year came to an end due to a very bad ankle injury, which required her to undergo two surgeries and 10 months of recovery time.
The report also reiterated Moné did have “friendly” contract talks with WWE at the end of last year. However, both sides were far apart on terms of a new deal.
January 3 and January 10 were said to be considered as dates for Mone’s AEW debut. However, she was not yet cleared at that point in time.
The report concluded by noting that NJPW sources told Fightful Mone’ was not scheduled to wrestle Giulia at Battle in the Valley as some had speculated. They instead would have wanted her to compete at Wrestle Kingdom if she was cleared in time.
