Former champion returns to WWE Raw

Its Rusev Day once again in WWE.

The former WWE United States Champion and AEW TNT Champion (as Miro), made his official return to WWE during Monday’s Raw, live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Rusev came out interrupting an impromptu World Tag Team Championship Match with the New Day (new champions) and Alpha Academy’s Otis and Tozawa.

Below is an excerpt from Mike Tedesco’s WWE Raw Recap of how it all went down.

Alpha Academy comes out to the stage. Maxxine Dupri says the New Day might be the greatest tag team ever, but the last time they faced Otis and Tozawa, they beat them in sixty seconds. Dupri tells the New Day to put their money where their mouth is and put the titles on the line in Las Vegas. The crowd wants it, so Woods says, “No!” Dupri asks if they’re scared and calls them “minutemen.” Kingston isn’t happy and yells for a referee.

A referee runs in, but the lights go out. Rusev runs out to a huge ovation. Rusev gets in the ring, and the New Day gets out of the ring. Rusev takes Otis down and swats Tozawa out of mid-air. Rusev looks at the New Day before turning to catch Tozawa coming off the top rope. Rusev hits him with a fallaway slam. Otis gets to his feet and rips his shirt off, but Rusev kicks him with two thrust kicks to the head. Rusev stomps away at Otis’s spine and applies the Accolade. The referee tries to break his grip, but Rusev is too powerful. Rusev finally releases the hold. The crowd chants, “Rusev Day!”
