Following the news of his move to hospice care, Courtney Cronin has reported that Steve “Mongo” McMichael has passed away at the age of 67.

The former NFL star had been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) back in January 2021.
Among the accolades McMichael would achieve in football were his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2024, following an NFL career that saw him become a Super Bowl champion with the Chicago Bears and a two-time first-team All-Pro and two-time Pro Bowl selection between 1985 and 1987.
Wrestling fans perhaps know “Mongo” best as a former WCW United States Champion and prominently featured on programming as a commentator and member of the Four Horsemen stable, which was preceded by his involvement in an angle leading up to Lawrence Taylor facing Bam Bam Bigelow at WrestleMania XI in 1995.
Wrestleview extends its condolences to the family, friends, and fans of Steve McMichael.
