During two recent interviews, Bryan Danielson spoke on his in-ring status and clarified his role with AEW.
In an interview with Metro.co.uk, Bryan Danielson talked about life after wrestling, revealing that he is happy to hang up his boots given the state of his neck after a long and storied career.
I have no inclination right now, and no desire to wrestle right now. The last six months of my career built up to that I actually, I look at it now as a blessing.
Because the six months leading into my last match were so hard and my neck was so bad. And, I mean, there’s things that I couldn’t physically do, right?
The former AEW World Champion stated that his final match as a full-time competitor brought about a sense of peace.
When the last match came against, against Moxley, I was ready. And that’s a good place to be, because when I was forced to retire before [in WWE in 2016], I didn’t want to be retired.
In an interview with Daily Star, Danielson stated he would prefer not to call himself retired, citing a previous remark about being “95 percent” certain he won’t be involved with the upcoming Forbidden Door event in London.
“…if something horrible happens and Tony [Khan] says ‘hey Bryan, we need somebody to fill in,’ I guess I can fill in, right?”
Danielson previously noted how the state of his neck has factored into his future plans.
