Rob Van Dam addresses controversy surrounding Sabu’s final match

During a live stream alongside Taz sharing their memories of Sabu in light of his passing, Rob Van Dam addressed the situation that came out of the late wrestler’s final match.

The WWE Hall of Famer called the criticism against Joey Janela and GCW “ridiculous,” adding:

I’ve read comments from social media followers that say, ‘GCW should be arrested on manslaughter.’ Wait, regardless of the cause of death, three weeks later? Thank god these people aren’t actually in control actually making real decisions.

Sabu passed away on May 11, less than a month after defeating Janela at the Spring Break event held during WrestleMania week, a match that Janela claimed nearly didn’t happen due to the former ECW World Champion’s physical condition on the day.

Van Dam, who called himself an advocate for kratom, also addressed the online response to Janela stating Sabu used the drug to be able to walk the night of their match:

A lot of my friends have been able to quit taking opiates and take kratom. A lot of followers have told me and thanked me for talking about kratom because they’ve done the same thing.

Can you get addicted to kratom? You can get addicted to f—ing chocolate. If you’re a person that’s going to be addicted to stuff, then stay away from everything. The answer to that is, sure it’s possible. Can you take too much? Sure.
