On the 6/3 edition of WWE NXT, Jacy Jayne’s first promo as NXT Women’s Champion was interrupted by a number of women staking their claim for a title shot.
During the ensuing brawl, the lights went out to reveal a spotlight on Mariah May, who made her own claim to the title before stating that “the best women’s division in the world just got a lot more glamorous.”
It may be worth nothing that Mariah was not mentioned by name during the broadcast, similar to the arrival of Ricky Starks (who later signed his NXT contract on-air as Ricky Saints) upon his arrival.
Her debut comes just days after the former AEW Women’s World Champion was quietly removed from the company’s roster page, following reports that she was expected to join WWE.
