Major title changes hands on 6/9/25 WWE Raw

Gunther is the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

Gunther defeated Jey Uso on Monday’s Raw to regain the championship.

Below is an excerpt from Mike Tedesco’s WWE Raw recap of how the title change went down.

Gunther looks down at the World Heavyweight Champion and gets to his feet. Gunther grabs Uso and CRUSHES him with a standing lariat. Gunther talks a little trash. Uso shoves him. Uso absorbs a pair of standing lariats. Uso shoves him, ducks a lariat, and applies a sleeper hold. Gunther shoves him off and locks in the sleeper hold. Uso drives him into the turnbuckle, superkicks him, and hits a Spear! Uso heads to the top rope and dives for an Uso Splash, but Gunther rolls out of the way! Uso grabs his injured ribs in pain, screaming. Gunther then grabs him with the sleeper hold and grapevines the body. Uso rolls over and reaches for the bottom rope, but Gunther rolls him to the middle of the ring. Uso gets to his feet and reaches, but Gunther pulls him back. Gunther drops down and grapevines the body as he cinches in the sleeper hold. Uso struggles and rolls over, fighting up to his feet, but Gunther drives him back to the mat and keeps the sleeper hold applied! Uso still tries to get up, so Gunther elbows him in the head. Uso manages to counter and apply a sleeper hold. Uso keeps the sleeper hold applied and cinches it in. Gunther manages to slip out of the hold and elbows away at Uso’s chest. Gunther puts the sleeper hold back on and grapevines the body. Uso is fading as the crowd chants, “YEET!” Uso passes out, and the referee calls for the bell! We’ve got a new World Heavyweight Champion!

Jey initially won the championship back on April 19 at WrestleMania 41 Saturday.
