During the broadcast of WWE Clash in Paris on August 31, Michael Cole gave thanks to Peacock and Rick Cordella for the incredible five-year run that saw WWE’s premium live events airing on the NBCUniversal-centric platform.
The NBC Sports president expressed his gratitude in return to WWE, along with Nick Khan, Triple H, and Stephanie McMahon for “taking a chance on Peacock 5 years ago, as we were just launching.”
In his social media post, Cordella reminded fans that it was not goodbye as Peacock continues to be a partner of WWE, thanks in part to Saturday Night’s Main Event.
With PLEs moving to ESPN and its new direct-to-consumer platform next month, WWE and Peacock reached a deal that will the special events airing exclusively on that streaming service in the years to come.
WWE’s first event under the ESPN partnership takes place September 20, when WWE Wrestlepalooza emanates from the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.
