According to an exclusive report from Variety, the old 1980’s animated series “Hulk Hogan’s Rock ‘n’ Wrestling” is being released on the WWE Vault YouTube Channel this weekend. The series ran for 2 seasons on CBS (September 14, 1985 to October 18, 1986), with a total of 26 episodes.
Re-runs of the series ran up until June 27, 1987.
The report notes, WWE will have batches of four episodes every Saturday morning at 6:00 am ET, 8:00 am ET, 10:00 am ET and 12:00 pm PT, beginning on September 6. It was also noted all the episodes will air in chronological order.
The first four episodes to air this weekend will be, “Junkyard 500/Junkenstein,” “The Four-Legged Pickpocket,” “Clean Gene/Andre’s Giant Problem,” and “Gorilla My Dreams.”
“Hulk Hogan’s Rock ’n’ Wrestling”, which was produced by DIC Animation City featured Hogan and a group of babyfaces having various whacky adventures against a group of heels led by “Rowdy” Roddy Piper.
Other WWE Superstars and talent featured in the series included Andre the Giant, Junkyard Dog, Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka, The Iron Sheik, and Bobby “The Brain” Heenan and “Mean” Gene Okerlund. None of the wrestlers and talent had provided their own voices for the any of the episodes due to the WWE’s excessive travel scheduled at the time.
Hogan, (real name Terry Bollea), passed away back on July 24, due to a heart attack. He was 71.
