According to Fightful Select, Wardlow, who made his return to AEW programming at Forbidden Door is reportedly injured.
The report notes AEW sources have confirmed to Fightful Select, it is feared that Wardlow has a torn pectoral muscle, which would keep him from in-ring action for an extended period of time. It was also said Wardlow was set to have a big push, as he is now aligned with Don Callis, after attacking Prince Nana and Swerve Strickland at Forbidden Door, after Kazuchika Okada’s successful title defense over Strickland at Forbidden Door back on August 24. Most pectoral muscle injuries can take six to nine months of recovery time. It was further added the injury could have occurred during his return at the pay-per-view. However, at the time of this writing, that has not been confirmed.
Fightful Select further notes there is a possibility the former TNT Champion could remain on AEW television in a non-physical type role. He had previously been out of in-ring action for after a shoulder stemming from a motor-vehicle accident. AEW had cleared him for a return several months ago, but they delayed it so that he could be part of the filming for the first two seasons of Amazon Prime’s “American Gladiators” reboot hosting by WWE Superstar The Miz.
The report concludes by noting that many AEW talent were said to be “bummed out about the news after Wardlow had waited so long to get back on TV and battled injuries.”
