Roy’s Thoughts: This was a fun way to start Nitro. Hogan wearing a black mask was not something we have seen Hogan wear before but it fits the 1990s, I suppose. The match was short but the fans were on their feet for it. Seeing Savage wear black and white as opposed to colors was different too. They were trying some new stuff here and it wasn’t bad.

Roy’s thoughts: This was a very good match and at one point, it felt like Eddie was giving him receipts when Johnny B. Badd hit him onto the mat. I know Eddie ended up being a legend but Marc Mero here was very good and I keep thinking he is underrated. A fun match.

We cut to the announce team who talk about Hulk Hogan. Bischoff says that Hogan will be on Nitro next week and he says that Hogan wants to face Sting in a match.

We cut to the ring and Gene Okerlund is in the ring with The Taskmaster, Jimmy Hart and The Giant. Okerlund says he agrees that The Giant is the odds on favorite to win. The Giant said there will be competition but in the end, there will be only one and that is him. He says he will be the WCW World Heavyweight Champion.

Roy’s thoughts: Not much in this promo, you can tell Jimmy Hart and Kevin Sullivan were The Giant’s mouthpieces.

-Commercial Break-

Back from commercial, the announcers talk about Hulk Hogan.

We cut to Okerlund who is in the ring with Sting. He tells Okerlund that he has nothing against Hogan, he doesn’t know where he is coming from. He never dreamed that Hogan would ever knocking on his door. He says he doesn’t want to do it but he will do it. He let it slide when he called him a little dog. He says at WCW, he’s a big dog. And if Hogan wants to check the list that have come and gotten in his face, because this is where the big dogs play, his list is pretty long. And he won’t walk away. He says he is kind of looking forward to it.

Sting says he doesn’t think there is any reason why he and Hogan can’t get it squared away. He tells Hogan he will see him next week, he’s the big dog and he walks away. Roy’s thoughts: A good promo by Sting and he showed some bite here. A fun Nitro too with some good matches and promos.
