According to a report from Boxing Scene, former WWE Women’s Raw, SmackDown and Tag Team Champion Ronda Rousey is reportedly in “active negotiations”, along with Katie Taylor for boxing match to take place between the two in Las Vegas Nevada, sometime in 2026.
Taylor, who is 39-years old and an Olympic Gold Medalist, recently defeated Puerto Rico’s Amanda Serrano that generated 6 million streams on Netflix. It is also said Taylor is coming up to the end of her boxing career.
The 38-year old Rousey who retired from UFC in 2016 after being defeated by Amanda Nunes has reportedly been seen training in the past few months, which has brought up speculation that she is preparing for a comeback in the sports world.
Taylor, who being honored this week at the WBC Convention in Thailand told reporters on Sunday she believes she misses the sport more than it misses her, but did not commit to saying she is going to fight Rousey.
“I’m not too sure – waiting to see what happens. I’m ready to fight whenever, really, and take on whatever challenge comes next. Right now, I’m waiting to see what that is. Any of the big names, any of the big fights – I’m ready to take on them all.”
The report also notes the talk of a Taylor/Rousey match has drawn the interest of Netflix, as per an official familiar who spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to speak publicly regarding the negotiations.
Rousey left WWE following SummerSlam 2023 and confirmed to The Takedown on SI this past September that she has no plans to return to professional wrestling. Her last wrestling match was a in a tag team match with Marina Shafir against ROH Women’s World Champion Athena and Billie Starkz. The match was taped at the Kia Forum on November 17, 2023 and aired on the November 23, 2023, episode of ROH TV, on the HonorClub streaming service.
