WWE Hall of Famer set to return to Saturday Night’s Main Event

Fightful and Wrestlevotes are reporting that WWE Hall of Famer Jesse “The Body” Ventura” is set to be this weekend’s Saturday Night Main Event, which features John Cena’s final match.

It was previously reported by Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer back on November 7, that Ventura had been quietly let go by WWE, despite signing a one-year deal with WWE.

Meltzer noted the reason for Ventura’s departure had to do with comments he made during commentary on back on the May 24 SNME. Ventura was verbal during the live broadcast as it pertained to the finish of the cage match between Damian Priest and Drew McIntyre, with Priest escaping through the cage door to get the victory. Venture was heard saying, “Wait a minute, what kind of BS is that?”, as he went on to state in what is described as an over the top derogatory tone noting one must escape over the top of the cage to win. His comments were edited from the highlight video.

Below is the lineup for Saturday Night’s Main Event:

-World Tag Team Champions AJ Styles and Dragon Lee defend against Je’Von Evans and NXT X-Division Champion Leon Slater

-Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes vs. NXT Champion Oba Femi

-John Cena vs. Gunther (Cena’s retirement match)

-Bayley vs. Sol Ruca

Saturday Night’s Main Event will take place from the Capital One Arena in Washington, DC with a broadcast time of 8:00 pm ET/5:00 pm PT on exclusively on Peacock in the US and Netflix internationally.
