WCW Nitro kicks off with the legendary Nitro video package.

Eric Bischoff welcomes everyone to the show as we cut to the announce team. They talk about the main event, Ric Flair, Sting and Lex Luger.

We cut to the first match of the night.

WCW World Tag Team Championship – Harlem Heat (c’s) with Sister Sherri vs. The American Males

The bell rings and we are under way. Riggs and Stevie Ray start the match. Stevie Ray with right hands. He throws Riggs to the ropes but Riggs with a drop kick. He goes for the cover but Stevie Ray kicks out. Riggs to the ropes but Stevie Ray with a side slam. Booker T is tagged in and he throws Riggs to the ropes but Riggs with a flying forearm. Bagwell is tagged in and he hits Booker T with right hands, he rolls Booker T up but Booker T kicks out. We see Colonel Parker on the outside of the ring carrying a small red box.

Bagwell with an arm drag and Riggs is tagged back in. Booker T to the ropes and Riggs with a drop kick. He goes for a spear in the corner but Booker T moves out of the way and Riggs hits the ring post. Booker T slams Riggs onto the mat.

We see Colonel Parker give Sherri the present and she opens it and both of them kiss. In the ring, Booker T with a snap mare and he does the spin-a-roonie. Booker T with a jumping kick to the face. We see Colonel Parker and Sister Sherri leaving with a ring on Sherri’s finger.

Back in the ring, Stevie Ray is tagged in and he hits Riggs with a knee to the face. Booker T is surprised and angry at Sherri. Stevie Ray goes for the cover but Bagwell breaks it up. Booker T is tagged in and Booker T with a spinning kick to the face. Booker T gets into an argument with someone in the crowd and Riggs rolls him up but Booker T kicks out. Stevie Ray is tagged in and they double team Riggs. Booker T is tagged back in and he goes for a splash but Riggs gets his knees up. Stevie Ray is tagged in and as is Bagwell into the ring. Bagwell with right hands onto Stevie Ray and Booker T. Bagwell with a fisherman’s suplex onto Stevie Ray but Booker T breaks it up. Bagwell grabs Stevie Ray but Stevie Ray slams him onto the mat. Booker T is tagged in and he lands the Harlem Hangover. He goes for the cover and gets the pin.

Winners: Still WCW Tag Team Champions, Harlem Heat

Roy’s thoughts: Booker T was the star in this for Harlem Heat. Stevie Ray was not bad and the fans like both teams but Booker T was the guy who stood out. Fun match to start the show.

-Commercial Break-

Back from commercial, Okerlund is at the entrance ramp with Sting and Lex Luger. Sting says he called Luger out there tonight because he wanted him without Jimmy Hart. He says Luger has been his best friend for the last 10 years and Jimmy Hart is Luger’s manager. He says if Lex becomes champion, Sting is involved in a triangle match at Starrcade and he will pull out the win. Sting says he will possibly face Luger for the World title.

Luger tells him that he agrees with Sting in that he will become the new WCW World Champion. But at Starrcade, when Sting gets in the ring with him, friend or not, no holds barred. Sting agrees and says only time will tell as his music hits and he walks down to the ring for his match.

Sting vs. Kurasawa

The bell rings and we are under way. Sting with a head lock but Kurasawa throws him to the ropes. Sting with a drop kick followed by a clothesline to the outside of the ring. Sting to the outside but Kurasawa with right hands and a kick. He throws Sting back into the ring. Kurasawa with an arm bar and he wraps Sting’s arm around the top rope. Kurasawa with a chop to the chest but Sting with a right hand and chops. Sting slams Kurasawa face first into the top turnbuckle followed by the Stinger’s splash. Sting with the Scorpion Death Lock and Kurasawa taps out.

Winner: Sting

Roy’s thoughts: This was all about the fans getting to see Lex Luger, Sting and Sting getting a win. From the first episode of Nitro to the very last, I don’t think anyone consistently got cheered more than Sting.

-Commercial Break-

Scott Norton vs. The Giant with Kevin Sullivan and Jimmy Hart

The bell rings and we are under way. Norton with a head lock but The Giant throws him to the ropes and The Giant with a shoulder tackle. The Giant with a right hand followed by a knee to the face. The Giant with a body slam. The Giant grabs Norton but Norton slides behind The Giant and lands an atomic drop. Norton with a rake to the eyes followed by a right hand. He slams The Giant face first onto the top turnbuckle. Norton with a clothesline and he climbs the top rope. Norton jumps but The Giant catches him and he lands the Chokeslam. He goes for the cover and gets the pin.

Winner: The Giant

Roy’s thoughts: This match was about getting The Giant over. He really made Scott Norton look small here. Not a great match, just a match to make The Giant look good.

-Commercial Break-

Back from commercial, Gene Okerlund is in the ring and out comes Charles Barkley with Ric Flair. Barkley tells Okerlund that he can never measure up to the Nature Boy. Flair says Sir Charles and the Nature Boy are going to tear the town down. Barkley says they have the best NBA fans and the best wrestling fans. Flair tells Hogan, Sting, Luger and Savage that they better not jump on him anymore because Barkley might just leave the NBA and become a Horseman. Flair and Barkley leave the ring.

We go to the announce team who talk Charles Barkley and Ric Flair.

WCW World Heavyweight Championship – Macho Man Randy Savage (c) vs. Lex Luger with Jimmy Hart

The bell rings and we are under way. Savage has tape all around his left elbow. Savage with right hands and he begins choking Luger but the referee breaks it up. Luger with a clothesline and Savage rolls to the outside of the ring. Luger gets on the ring apron and jumps but Savage with a right hand. He throws Luger back into the ring and Savage climbs the top rope. Savage with a double axe. He goes for the cover but Luger kicks out. Savage with an elbow to the face. He goes for the cover but Luger kicks out. Savage goes for a su0plex but Luger blocks it and Luger with a suplex. Luger goes for a jumping elbow but Savage moves out of the way.

-Commercial Break-

Back from commercial, Savage with right hands on the outside of the ring. Savage slams Luger’s left elbow into the ring post. He throws Luger back into the ring. Savage with a modified arm bar and he slides to the outside of the ring, slamming Luger’s left arm into the ring post. Savage gets back in the ring and goes for the cover but Luger kicks out. He throws Luger to the outside of the ring. Savage throws Luger into the ring post. Savage gets on the ring apron and goes for a double axe but Luger with a right hand. Luger throws Savage back into the ring. Luger with right hands but Savage with right hands. Luger with a rake to the eyes and Savage accidentally hits the referee. Luger throws Savage to the ropes and Luger with a clothesline. He goes for the cover but Savage kicks out. Luger with elbows to the face. Luger goes for the cover but Savage kicks out. Luger with a running knee to the face followed by an elbow drop. He goes for the cover but Savage kicks out. Savage to the ropes and both men with shoulder tackles. Savage goes for the cover but Luger kicks out. Savage grabs Luger but Luger with a right hand and he throws Savage to the outside of the ring. Luger gets on the ring apron but Savage drags him to the outside. Savage with a right hand but Luger with a right hand. Luger grabs Savage but Savage throws Luger into the barricade and back into the ring. With the referee distracted, Jimmy Hart took off the turnbuckle pad off one of the top turnbuckles. Savage with a clothesline. He goes for the cover but Luger kicks out. He grabs Luger but Luger grabs Savage and tries to slam him into the exposed turnbuckle but Savage slams Luger into the top turnbuckle. Luger falls backwards and bumps into the referee. Savage climbs the top rope and he lands the Elbow Drop. He goes for the cover but there is no referee. Jimmy Hart gets on the ring apron but Savage throws him into the ring. Out comes Ric Flair with brass knuckles and he hits Savage in the face. Jimmy Hart places Luger on top of Savage.

Out comes Hulk Hogan as Flair is walking to the back. Flair turns around and he is face to face with Hogan. Flair backs up and he runs into the ring. He tries to escape but Hogan grabs him. The referee goes for the cover but Hogan breaks it up and the referee calls for the bell.

Winner: No contest

After the match, Hogan grabs Jimmy Hart who is on the ring apron and he throws him into the ring. He grabs Jimmy and Luger, slamming their heads together. In comes Sting and as Hogan is going for a right hand on Luger, he accidentally hits Sting. Hogan gets in Sting’s face and Sting pushes Hogan. Both men are face to face as Savage breaks it up.

Roy’s thoughts: Not a bad match but there was no way this was going to end with a clean finish. I felt like the ending was a bit odd but the fans were really into this.

-Commercial Break-

Okerlund is in the ring with Hogan, Savage and Sting. Hogan says he is on probation but he is not worried about that. He tells Sting that next week, they are friends and they are supposed to team up against Ric Flair and Arn Anderson. But he asks Sting what side he is on. Sting tells Hogan he is on his side. Hogan asks him what is going on with Luger. Sting tells him Luger is his best friend but he does not agree with him being with Jimmy Hart. He says sometimes he questions Savage and his motives but he will not down him. He asks Hogan why Hogan has to down Luger every week.

Hogan says Savage is the one that warned everyone about Luger. Savage agrees and he says he called it like he saw it. Sting says maybe Luger’s fuse is short, maybe Savage did not give Luger the opportunity he wanted. Sting says all he can say is he and Hogan are going up against Flair and Arn Anderson. If they don’t get straight, they might lose the whole deal.

They shake hands and Hogan tells him he is his friend. He tells Sting to keep Luger out of his face. Sting says he is here to make one last statement and that is that he will everything in his power to keep Luger out of Savage’s face and Hogan’s face. They shake hands and we cut to the announce team. They talk about Sting, Savage and Hogan as Nitro goes off the air.

Roy’s thoughts: They ended the show with the biggest storyline involving the biggest names in the company. They have been talking about which side Luger is on since Nitro first started and this was about Sting too. Interesting end to the show.
