Speaking with Denise Salcedo, Sting reacted after wrapping up the final appearance on his “2025 or Never” convention tour.
On how he feels finishing the last of his dates with the face paint, the former AEW World Tag Team Champion said:
I feel completely normal. This is just another gig for me. But, you have people like my daughter, for example, who’s sending these emojis on the phone, the crying emojis. ‘Dad, this is your last one ever.’ Then all my buddies and all my friends coming here and being a part of this. Is it those kind of moments because everyone’s feeding it, where it’s like this strong undercurrent of ‘Wow, this is the end. This really is it.’ I don’t know how to sum it up in into words, but the undercurrent is definitely there. Bittersweet for sure.
I’ll be glad to get off the airplanes and trains and automobiles, but I will miss the people for sure. Not just the roar of the crowd wrestling, but these meet and greets, the one-on-ones, and the story time telling. It’s amazing to hear everything that fans have to say. They’re just so appreciative and grateful, and so am I.
Sting’s final pro wrestling match came at AEW Revolution 2023, which saw the Icon retain the title alongside Darby Allin against the Young Bucks to end an undefeated run.
Thanking fans for their love and support, Sting also spoke on potential AEW appearances in the future.
I just want to say thank you. I love you, all of you. I do believe that we’ve had a love affair going on for many decades now, and I will miss all of you for sure. But there will be little bits and pieces with AEW I’m sure down the road.
