WCW Nitro kicks off with the legendary WCW Nitro video.
Eric Bischoff wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and he welcomes everyone to the show. We cut to the announce team. Heenan is wearing a Santa hat while McMichael’s dog is wearing a red and white. Lex Luger’s music hits and we cut to the ring.
Lex Luger with Jimmy Hart vs. Scotty Riggs
The bell rings and we are under way. Luger with a head lock but Riggs throws him to the ropes and Luger with a shoulder tackle. Luger to the ropes but Riggs with a drop kick. Riggs with a flying forearm and Luger rolls to the outside of the ring. Luger gets back into the ring and he gets Riggs in the corner. Luger grabs Riggs and he slams him into the corner and goes for a splash but Riggs moves out of the way and Riggs with an arm drag take down. Riggs with an arm bar and Riggs jumps over the top rope, smashing Luger’s arm onto the top rope. Riggs gets back into the ring but Luger with a right hand. Luger to the ropes but Riggs with an arm drag. He throws Luger to the ropes and goes for a drop kick but Luger holds onto the ropes and Riggs misses. Luger throws Riggs to the ropes but Riggs with a cross body. He goes for the cover but Luger kicks out. Riggs grabs Luger but Luger picks him up and slams him onto the top rope and Riggs falls to the outside of the ring. Riggs gets on the ring apron and Luger suplexes him into the ring. He goes for the cover but Riggs kicks out. Luger slams Riggs into the corner and he runs towards Riggs but Riggs with a boot to the face. Riggs with right hands and he throws Luger to the ropes, landing a back body drop. Riggs goes for the cover but Luger kicks out. Riggs climbs the top rope and goes for a drop kick but Luger moves out of the way. Luger throws him to the ropes and a body slam by Luger. He gets Riggs in the Torture Rack and Riggs taps out.
Winner: Lex Luger
We see the replay and cut to Gene Okerlund who is at the ramp with Sting. He asks Sting what is going on with him and Luger. Sting tells him enough is enough. He asks him if he is an investigative reporter and Okerlund tells him if he has to be one, he will be. Sting says he is tired of being asked that. He says Luger is his friend and he is doing everything in his power to straighten him out and he won’t diss him. He says Luger snapped but maybe Luger snapped for the right reason.
Okerlund tells him that he doesn’t know the story of him and Luger but he does know the story of him and Ric Flair. Sting says he did not get it out of his system with Flair, he wants one more chance to put the Scorpion Death Lock on him and never let go. Okerlund mentions to him about his match at Starrcade against the team from New Japan. Sting tells Team Japan that they are in WCW territory, they are in USA, where all the best goes on.
Roy’s thoughts: A decent match between Luger and Riggs but like every Nitro, Sting continues to get the loudest reaction from everyone. The guy steals the show.

Sting vs. Big Bubba
The bell rings and we are under way. Big Bubba with right hands and he throws Big Bubba to the ropes. Big Bubba with a shoulder tackle but Sting gets back to his feet. Big Bubba with a kick to the side of the head. Big Bubba lifts Sting up and he lands a modified back breaker. Big Bubba goes for a right hand but Sting with right hands and kicks. Sting with a face buster. Big Bubba rolls to the outside of the ring but Sting goes to the outside and slams him face first. Sting gets back in the ring and Big Bubba gets back in the ring. Big Bubba with an arm bar but Sting reverses it with an arm bar. Big Bubba with a poke to the eyes. He slams Sting into the corner and lands a splash. Big Bubba goes for the cover but Sting kicks out. Big Bubba with a head lock and he throws Sting to the ropes but Sting with a shoulder tackle. Sting runs towards Big Bubba but Big Bubba with a big boot. Big Bubba throws Sting to the outside of the ring. Big Bubba with right hands but Sting with right hands. He throws Big Bubba back into the ring. Sting climbs the top rope but Big Bubba with a poke to the eyes. Big Bubba lifts him up but Sting rolls him into the cover and gets the pin.
Winner: Sting
Roy’s thoughts: Not much of a match in this but again, this was all about Sting.
-Commercial Break-
Back from commercial, Okerlund is with Jimmy Hart and Lex Luger. He asks Luger what the deal is with Sting. Luger tells him there’s no deal, they have been friends for 10 years. He says when you talk about a triangle match, you couldn’t talk about a more premier match with himself, Sting and Ric Flair. Luger says he is the uncrowned WCW World Heavyweight Champion.
Jimmy Hart tells Okerlund that he is the uncrowned WCW World Heavyweight Champion. As Jimmy Hart is talking, out comes Craig Pittman. He tells Luger that Luger is the uncrowned champion. Pittman tells Jimmy Hart that he wants to go where Luger is going and he asks Jimmy Hart if he will manage him. Jimmy Hart tells him that he came to the greatest manager in the history of professional wrestling. He asks Pittman to take his shirt off and Pittman takes his shirt off. Jimmy Hart tells him to take a look at his body and to take a look at Luger’s body. He asks Pittman why he would manage him. He gives Pittman a quarter and tells him to call some managers who need a few good men.
Roy’s thoughts: A good promo from Luger and Jimmy Hart. Luger having Jimmy Hart really helped here because Luger was never great on the microphone.

Dean Malenko vs. J.L.
The bell rings and we are under way. Malenko with a drop kick from behind followed by kicks. He throws J.L. into the corner and hits him with a clothesline. Malenko with a belly to belly and he goes for the cover but J.L. kicks out. Malenko to the ropes, he goes for a hip toss but J.L. goes for a hip toss. Malenko grabs him but J.L. rolls him up but Malenko kicks out. J.L. to the ropes and he lands a leg scissor take down and Malenko rolls to the outside. J.L. gets on the ring apron and he lands a cannon ball. J.L. gets back in the ring and Malenko on the ring apron. J.L. suplexes him into the ring. He goes for the cover but Malenko kicks out. J.L. with a chop to the chest. He powerbombs Malenko and goes for the cover but Malenko kicks out. J.L. to the ropes but Malenko with a kick. He lifts J.L. up and slams him on the top rope. He throws J.L. onto the ring apron and J.L. climbs the top rope. Malenko with right hands. Malenko gets J.L. onto his shoulders and he lands a side breaker. Malenko with the Malenko leg lock and J.L. taps out.
Winner: Dean Malenko
Roy’s thoughts: It wasn’t a bad match but no reaction from anyone in the arena.
-Commercial Break-
Gene Okerlund is at the ramp with Ric Flair. He tells Okerlund that what has taken place is Savage is about to wrestle Ric Flair on the show. And everyone knows that the great one cannot be denied. Out comes Jimmy Harty. He tells Flair that he wants to apologize for what happened last week with Sullivan when he interrupted him. He tells Flair that he owes Flair one because a few weeks ago on Nitro, Flair saved his life. When Savage grabbed him, Flair saved him. He asks Flair if he can go to ringside with him tonight and be there for when he becomes WCW World Heavyweight Champion of the world. Flair tells him if he wants to sit at ringside, to make himself happy.
Roy’s thoughts: Interesting that they will have Jimmy Hart with Flair for the main event.

WCW World Heavyweight Championship Match – Randy Savage (c) vs. Ric Flair with Jimmy Hart
The bell rings and we are under way. Flair with a poke to the eyes followed by a chop to the chest. Flair with a snap mare and he goes for a knee to the face but Savage moves out of the way. Savage grabs Flair by the leg and he goes to the outside. Savage slams Flair’s leg into the ring post. Savage gets back in the ring and he gets Flair in the Figure Four but Flair gets to the ropes. Savage gets Flair in the corner and Savage climbs the second rope and he hits him with right hands but Flair with an atomic drop. Flair throws Savage to the outside of the ring. Flair distracts the referee and Jimmy Hart kicks Savage.
-Commercial Break-
Back from commercial, Flair throws Savage into the barricade. Flair gets back in the ring and Savage grabs a chair but the referee grabs the chair from Savage. Flair grabs Savage onto the ring apron and he hangs him onto the top rope. Flair throws Savage back into the ring. He throws Savage to the ropes and Flair with an elbow to the face. Flair distracts the referee and Jimmy Hart chokes Savage. Flair with an arm bar and he throws Savage to the ropes but Savage with a clothesline. Savage goes for the cover but Flair kicks out. Savage grabs Flair and he goes for the cover but Flair kicks out. Flair goes for a right hand but Savage with a right hand. He goes for the cover but Flair kicks out. Flair gets up and he gets in the corner. Savage grabs him and Flair kicks him with a low blow but the referee doesn’t see it. Flair with a suplex. He goes for the cover but Savage kicks out.
-Commercial Break-
Back from commercial, Flair with chops to the chest followed by a right hand. Savage with a kick followed by right hands. Savage with a back body drop. He goes for the cover but Flair kicks out. He throws Flair to the corner and Flair flips over the top rope and onto the ring apron. Savage with a right hand and Flair falls to the outside of the ring. Savage climbs the top rope and he goes for a double axe but Flair with a right hand,. Flair and Savage get back in the ring. Flair to the ropes but Savage with a sleeper hold. He grabs Flair but Flair lifts him up and slams his knee down. Flair with a chop to the chest and he gets Savage in the Figure Four but Savage grabs the ropes. Flair keeps the Figure Four on Savage but Savage grabs the ropes. Flair with a kick to the knee followed by a snap mare. Flair climbs the top rope but Savage gets to his feet and he slams Flair down. Flair gets up and Savage with a clothesline. Savage grabs Flair but Flair with a poke to the eyes. Flair throws Savage to the ropes and he gets Savage in the sleeper hold. Savage runs towards the turnbuckle and Flair hits face first and falls to the mat. Flair grabs Savage and goes for a pile driver but Savage with a back drop. Savage climbs the top rope and he land a double axe. He goes for the cover but Flair kicks out. Savage grabs Flair but Flair throws Savage to the ropes. Jimmy Hart gets on the ring apron and he grabs Savage. Flair grabs Savage but Savage pushes Flair away. Savage hits Jimmy Hart with a right hand and he hits Flair with a right hand. Out comes Lex Luger and he hits Savage with right hands.
Winner: Randy Savage by disqualification
Luger with right hands but Savage with right hands. Out comes Sting but Flair grabs him. Sting with right hands and he gets Flair in the corner. Sting with a Stinger splash and he gorilla presses Flair. Savage throws Luger to the outside of the ring. Savage and Sting are face to face and they push each other as Nitro goes off the air.
Roy’s thoughts: A fun main event. Sting coming out at the end but being attacked by Flair before we can even know what Sting was going to do was interesting. If Sting was going to attack Savage or just stop him. The ending with Sting and Savage, that was solid.
