WCW Nitro kicks off with the legendary Nitro opening.

We cut inside the arena and pyro goes off in the arena. The announce team talk about tonight’s main event.

Chris Benoit with Brian Pillman vs. Alex Wright

The bell rings and we are under way. As Wright gets in the ring, Benoit hits him from behind. Benoit with a snap suplex. Benoit with a body slam. Benoit with another suplex and he goes for the cover but Wright kicks out. Benoit throws Wright to the outside and Pillman begins to choke Wright with his t-shirt. Pillman lets go and Wright gets back into the ring. Benoit with chops to the chest followed by a right hand. Benoit goes for a right hand but Wright with a wheel kick. Wright climbs the top rope and lands a cross body. He grabs Benoit and slingshots him over the top rope and to the outside. Wright with a baseball slide and Benoit hits the barricade. Wright climbs the top rope and he lands a splash onto Benoit on the outside of the ring. Pillman distracts Wright but Wright gets in the ring. Benoit gets back in the ring and Wright with a drop kick. He goes for the cover but Benoit kicks out. Wright with a body slam and he goes for another cover but Benoit kicks out. Wright with a Boston crab and he turns it into an STF. Wright lets go of the hold and he grabs Benoit. Both men with right hands and Wright with a back elbow to the face. Wright with a snap suplex. He goes for the cover but Benoit kicks out. Wright to the ropes but Pillman grabs his leg. Wright with a cross body over the top rope onto Pillman. Wright with right hands and he gets on the ring apron.. Benoit with a right hand. Wright with a right hand but Pillman trips him up on the ring apron. Wright falls into the ring. Benoit grabs Wright but Wright with an elbow. Wright with European uppercuts but Benoit with a right hand. Benoit with a dragon suplex cover and he gets the pin.

Winner: Chris Benoit

Roy’s thoughts: A fun little match to start the show. It’s difficult not to watch one of these matches and not think about what happened years later.

-Commercial Break-

Eddie Guerrero vs. Lord Steven Regal

The bell rings and we are under way. Guerrero with an arm bar but Regal grabs the top rope. Regal with a drop toe hold but Guerrero gets out of it. Regal with an arm bar but Guerrero reverses it into an arm bar. Regal gets out of it and he gets Guerrero in a head lock. Regal with an arm bar and he throws Guerrero to the ropes but Regal with a knee takes Guerrero down. He lifts Guerrero up but Guerrero with a hurricanrana. Guerrero with a drop kick and he grabs Regal but Regal with a thumb to the eyes. He throws Guerrero to the ropes but Guerrero with a right hand. He goes for the cover but Regal kicks out. Both men get up Regal with a right hand. He grabs Guerrero and goes for a right hand. Guerrero ducks and gets him in a crucifix cover, getting the pin.

Winner: Eddie Guerrero

Roy’s thoughts: We really used to get these kinds of pins to end matches. One’s that you wouldn’t see these days. Regal was great here and Guerrero was always fun to watch.

-Commercial Break-

Back from commercial, Gene Okerlund is at the entrance ramp with Sting and Lex Luger. Sting says he has a question that he wants to ask Luger in front of everyone. Sting says he wants to talk about what happened after the triangle match at Starrcade. We see clips of the match. Sting is about to get in the ring but Luger grabbed him by the hand and held him down while Sting was counted out.

Luger tells him he injured his knee, he reached out to Sting and he was injured. He wanted Sting to help him up. Sting says he never thought about them being an actual tag team and they might make a pretty good tag team. Luger says they would be the best tag team. Sting says he agrees to tag team at Clash of the Champions.

Roy’s thoughts: They continue to push the narrative that Luger is going to turn on Sting. Interested in seeing where this goes.

Sting vs. Diamond Dallas Page

The bell rings and we are under way. DDP throws the cigar in Sting’s face. DDP with elbows to the face. He throws Sting to the ropes but Sting throws DDP to the ropes. Sting gets hung up and Sting with a drop kick. DDP falls to the outside and Sting with a cross body over the top rope onto DDP. He slams DDP face first into the ring apron and back into the ring. He throws DDP to the ropes and goes for a leap frog but DDP stands up and his head hits Sting in the groin. DDP with a right hand followed by a back suplex. DDP with a swinging neck breaker and he goes for the cover but Sting kicks out. DDP with a sleeper hold. Sting gets to his feet and he hits DDP with elbows. Sting with right hands. Sting with an atomic drop followed by a drop kick. DDP in the corner and Sting with the Stinger’s splash. Sting grabs DDP but DDP gets on the ring apron and he hangs Sting up. DDP with a swinging neck breaker. He goes for the cover but Sting kicks out. He grabs Sting and hits him with an elbow to the face. DDP goes for a back suplex but Sting lands on his feet. Sting drops DDP and he gets him in the Scorpion Death Lock. DDP taps out and the referee calls for the bell.

Winner: Sting

Roy’s thoughts: I’m a massive Sting fan and this was fun. DDP always had something and you can tell, crazy it took years later for him to finally be a star in the company.

We cut to the announce team who talk about the main event.

Ric Flair and Arn Anderson vs. Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage

The bell rings and we are under way. Savage and Arn start the match. Arn tags Flair into the ring and Savage tags Hogan into the ring. Hogan with a shoulder tackle and Flair gets back up. Flair with a head lock and he gets Hogan in an arm bar but Hogan with an arm bar. Flair trips him up but Hogan gets Flair in a hammer lock. Flair gets to his feet and he kicks Hogan. Hogan with a test of strength but Flair gets out of it. Flair with a chop to the chest but Hogan stays on his feet. Flair with a poke to the eyes. Flair to the ropes but Hogan with a big boot. Hogan with a clothesline and in comes Arn. Hogan with a clothesline onto Arn. Hogan body slams both Flair and Arn. Flair and Arn fall to the outside of the ring. Flair gets back in the ring and Arn is tagged in. Arn with an arm bar but Hogan with an arm bar and Savage is tagged in. Savage climbs the top rope and he lands a double axe. Savage with an arm bar but Arn with a kick. Arn gets on the ring apron and he goes for a suplex but Savage with a right hand, Savage throws Arn towards Hogan and Hogan with a big boot. Arn falls to the outside and Savage with a double axe. Savage throws Arn into the ring. Savage climbs the top rope and he lands a double axe handle. He goes for the cover but Flair breaks it up. In comes Hogan but the referee stops him. Flair with a thumb to the eyes onto Savage. Flair is tagged in and Flair with right hands. He throws Savage to the ropes and Flair with a back elbow. Flair climbs the top rope but Savage with a gorilla press. Savage with the figure four leg lock but in comes Arn. Hogan gets in the ring. Hogan with a right hand onto Arn and he gets Arn in the figure four. Savage lets go of the hold. Hogan lets go of the hold and Arn hits Savage with a DDT. Flair goes for the cover but Hogan breaks it up. Flair throws Savage over the top rope and onto the outside of the ring. Arn grabs Savage and throws him into the barricade and into the ring.

-Commercial Break-

Back from commercial, Arn with an abdominal stretch. Flair is tagged in and he lands a kick onto Savage. Flair with chops to the chest. Flair with a back drop. He goes for the cover but Hogan breaks it up. Arn is tagged in but Savage gets him in a sleeper hold. Flair with a ake to the eyes onto Savage. The referee breaks it up. Arn with a boot onto Savage and Savage rolls to the outside of the ring. Arn distracts the referee and Flair throws Savage into the barricade. He throws Savage back int the ring and Flair is tagged in. Flair goes for a hip toss but Savage reverses it. He goes for a crucifix cover but Flair kicks out. Savage with a right hand but Flair with a chop to the chest. Savage with a right hand but Arn is tagged in. Arn to the ropes and he lands a right hand. Arn goes for a DDT but Savage holds onto the top rope and Arn drops to the mat. Flair is tagged in and as is Hogan. He lands a right hand onto Flair Followed by a back drop. In comes Arn but Hogan hits him with a clothesline. Hogan lands a double clothesline onto both men over the top rope amnd to the outside. Savage throws Arn back into the ring. Hogan throws Arn to the rops but Arn with a spine buster. Hogan gets back to his feet and he Hulks up. Hogan with the Big Boot followed by the Leg Drop. He goes for the cover and gets the pin.

Winners: Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage

Out come the Dungeon of Doom. Hogan throws Flair to the outside. The Giant with right hands and he Chokeslams Hogan. The Giant Chokeslams Savage as the referee continues to ring the bell. The Dungeon of Doom leave the ring as Nitro goes off the air.

Roy’s thoughts: Big stars to end the show. The main event wasn’t great but it served in getting The Dungeon of Doom out and to continue to have everyone wondering what is happening between Hogan and Savage. A fun show.
