Seth Rollins gives injury update ahead of WWE Royal Rumble

During an appearance on ESPN First Take, Seth Rollins provided an update on his status just days before WWE’s latest iteration of the Royal Rumble.

Rollins, who vacated the World Heavyweight Championship after sustaining an injury in October 2025, stated that his timetable for a return would not see him participate in the upcoming event:

Let’s pump the brakes on me participating in the Royal Rumble. I’m not ready there yet. I just had my rotator cuff done in October. I’ve got a couple months left to go. I wish I could get myself in there, but that’s not going to be the case.

I’ll give it away: I’m not going to be at the Rumble. I just can’t. I would love to be in there and dump all those dudes over the top rope, punch my card to WrestleMania. But the doctors are just not going to let it happen this time around unfortunately.

Rollins has previously admitted he blew his credibility when it comes to injury reports after the fake knee injury angle led to him cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase to win the World Heavyweight Championship from CM Punk at SummerSlam, but the shoulder injury sustained at Crown Jewel in Perth was notably a legitimate situation.

WWE Royal Rumble emanates from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday, January 31.
