WCW Nitro kicks off with the legendary Nitro video and we cut to the announce team.

Eric Bischoff talks about The Giant taking on Randy Savage for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship in the main event. Steve McMichael says that Ric Flair against Hulk Hogan will open the show.

Ric Flair with Jimmy Hart vs. Hulk Hogan with Miss Elizabeth

The bell rings and we are under way. Hogan pushes Flair down and Flair gets back up. Flair with a kick and he throws Hogan into the corner. Flair with a chop to the chest but Hogan on his feet. Flair backs up and Hogan with right hands. Hogan throws Flair into the turnbuckle and Flair runs back but Hogan with a back body drop. Flair gets up and Hogan with a clothesline. Flair over the top rope and to the outside of the ring. Hogan to the outside but Flair with a poke to the eyes. Hogan with a clothesline and Flair gets back up and gets in the ring. Hogan back in the ring and Hogan with right hands. Hogan with right hands but the referee breaks it up. Flair with a chop to the back of the leg.

-Commercial Break-

Back from commercial, Flair with kicks. Flair climbs the top rope but Hogan gets to his feet. Hogan with a right hand and he gorilla presses Flair down onto the mat. Hogan with a right hand. Hogan to the ropes but Flair with a back elbow to the face. Flair distracts the referee and Jimmy Hart grabs Hogan by the leg but Hogan pushes Jimmy Hart away. Hogan gets to his feet and Hogan with a clothesline. Hogan gets Flair in the corner and he climbs the second rope, hitting Flair with right hands. Hogan gets down and he throws Flair into the turnbuckle but Flair flips over the turnbuckle and onto the ring apron. Hogan with a clothesline and Flair falls to the outside of the ring. Hogan to the outside but Flair with a poke to the eyes. Both men back in the ring and Flair with a kick. Flair throws Hogan to the outside of the ring and he distracts the referee. Jimmy Hart begins choking Hogan on the outside. Hogan back in the ring and Flair slams Hogan’s knee onto his knee. Flair with the Figure Four Leg Lock but Hogan reverses it. Flair goes for a suplex but Hogan blocks it. Hogan with a suplex and both men get to their feet. Flair with a chop but Hogan with a right hand. He throws Flair to the corner and Hogan runs towards Flair but Flair with an elbow to the face. Flair with a back suplex. Flair goes for the cover but Hogan kicks out. Flair with right hands but Hogan is Hulking up. Flair with a chop but Hogan points to Flair. Hogan with a right hand. He throws Flair to the ropes and Hogan with a big boot. Hogan with a Leg Drop. Jimmy Hart gets on the ring apron but Hogan goes after him. Jimmy Hart drops to the floor. In comes Arn Anderson but Hogan with a right hand and Arn falls to the outside of the ring. Arn and Jimmy Hart hold Miss Elizabeth and Arn takes Miss Elizabeth’s heel and gives it to Flair who is down. Hogan goes for the cover but Flair kicks out. Flair hits Hogan with the heel of the shoe. Flair goes for the cover and gets the pin.

Winner: Ric Flair

Hogan rolls to the outside of the ring and out comes Randy Savage. He and Miss Elizabeth check on Hogan.

Roy’s thoughts: Crazy how a match like Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan opened a Nitro. The fans were really interested in this and the never ending feud of Flair and Hogan continues. This was fun.

-Commercial Break-

Faces of Fear (The Barbarian and Meng) vs. Road Warriors

The bell rings and we are under way. Animal and Barbarian start the match. Barbarian pushes Animal into the corner but Animal gets back and pushes Barbarian into the corner. Barbarian with a big boot followed by right hands. Barbarian to the ropes but Animal with a powerslam followed by an elbow drop. Meng is tagged in and Hawk is tagged in. Meng with right hands followed by a head butt. Meng with a pile driver but Hawk steps back up. Hawk with a clothesline followed by a powerslam. Hawk with a right hand and Meng rolls to the outside of the ring. Animal is tagged back in and Meng gets in the ring. Meng with right hands and Barbarian is tagged in. Barbarian and Meng with double headbutts onto Animal. Barbarian goes for the cover but Animal kicks out. Animal is slammed into the turnbuckle. Barbarian with right hands followed by a back breaker. He goes for the cover but Animal kicks out. Meng is tagged in and he gets Animal in a camel clutch but he lets go of it. Meng with kicks and Animal rolls to the outside of the ring. Meng distracts the referee and Barbarian throws Animal into the barricade. Animal gets back in the ring and Meng throws him to the ropes. Meng with a drop kick. He goes for the cover but Animal kicks out. Barbarian is tagged in and he lands a power bomb. Barbarian goes for the cover but Animal kicks out. Barbarian climbs the second rope and he lands a shoulder tackle. Barbarian climbs the second rope and he goes for another shoulder tackle but Animal with a clothesline. Hawk is tagged in and Hawk with right hands. Hawk with a clothesline. In comes Meng and Hawk with a clothesline. Hawk with a double clothesline. Animal throws Meng to the outside of the ring. Barbarian places Hawk on the second rope but Animal picks the Barbarian up on his shoulders. Meng pushes Hawk down. Meng grabs Hawk but Hawk throws him into the barricade. Barbarian with a pile driver onto Animal. Hawk climbs the top rope and he lands a clothesline. He goes for the cover and gets the pin.

Winners: Road Warriors

Roy’s thoughts: Two hard hitting teams. For a second, I had forgotten that the Road Warriors went back to WCW around this time. Hard hitting but the ending was a bit weak.

-Commercial Break-

Back from commercial, Gene Okerlund in e ring with Kevin Sullivan. He tells Okerlund that he has a problem. They made a pact with the Four Horsemen and he thought Arn Anderson was a man of his word. Sullivan says to be a Four Horsemen, you have to be one of the elite. Out come Arn Anderson and Brian Pillman. Sullivan tells Arn that they made a pact and he has always been a man of his word. He says Arn either disciplines Brian or he will suffer the consequences. Arn tells Pillman that Flair just beat Hogan by himself and Brian was no where to be found. But as usual, Arn took care of it. He says Pillman is not an individual, he is part of a team. He says if Pillman is going to act like a child, there is only tough love that is left. But now it will hurt him a lot. Arn takes off his belt abut Sullivan and Hugh Morris attack Arn from behind. Pillman hides on the outside of the ring. Sullivan to the outside and he whips Pillman across the back with it. Arn with a DDT onto Hugh Morris. Arn to the outside and he pushes Sullivan. Arn grabs his belt and he gets back in the ring. Arn says they police within their own, they take care of their problems. He says they had a deal. He knows someone back there is in the building. Arn says he is telling them to get him a match with Sullivan and his stooge. Pillman says he got Arn into this mess and he will get them out.

Roy’s thoughts: They could have done a lot with The Four Horsemen and Brian Pillman but Pillman would eventually leave the company. Not a big fan of the Dungeon of Doom here but this wasn’t bad.

-Commercial Break-

Gene Okerlund in he ring with Sister Sherri and we see clips of Clash of the Champions. We see Madusa interrupting Sister Sherri and both of them fighting. Back in the ring, Madusa lands a cross body onto Sister Sherri in the ring. She grabs Sister Sherri but Sister Sherri drags her by the leg and slams it into the ring post.

The bell rings and we are under way. Sister Sherri grabs Madusa but Madusa throws Sister Sherri into the ring steps. Madusa with a suplex n the outside of the ring. She grabs Sister Sherri but Sister Sherri with a right hand. Sister Sherri throws Madusa back into the ring. Madusa with a right hand and she hits Sister Sherri with kicks. She grabs Sister Sherri but Sister Sherri trips her up. Sister Sherri climbs the top rope but Madusa gets to her feet. She goes for a gorilla press but Sister Sherri reverses it into a cover and gets the pin.

Winner: Sister Sherri

Madusa with ight hands after the bell. Another referee runs down and they break it up.

Roy’s thoughts: This was a short match but it wasn’t often the women had matches on Nitro around this time.

-Commercial Break-

World Heavyweight Championship Match – Randy Savage (c) vs. The Giant

With The Giant in the ring, Savage’s music hits but he comes from behind. Savage hits he Giant from behind with the title. The referee leaves the ring and Savage jumps onto The Giant’s back. The referee calls for the bell.

Winner: No contest

Out comes Flair and The Giant flips Savage onto the mat. Flair drags Savage to the outside and he throws him into the barricade. Flair hits Savage across the back with a steel chair. Flair with right hands. He gets Savage onto the ring apron and Flair with a right hand to the referee. The Giant suplexes Savage into the ring. The Giant with a chokeslam. Out comes Hogan with a steel chair and he hits The Giant with it across the back and in the face. The Giant falls to the outside of the ring. The Dungeon of Doom run to the ring and Hogan hits them all with the steel chair. Flair goes to the announce team and he grabs a microphone. In comes Jimmy Hart. Flair says at Superbrawl, there will be two cages. In comes The Giant. He tells Hogan that his body and soul is his for ever. Flair challenges Savage to a match at SuperBrawl. Jimmy Hart says this is Ric Flair country. We see Hogan and Savage leave the ring as Nitro goes off the air.

Roy’s thoughts: The match never got going and we ended the show the same way we started it. Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan in the ring. Even though Savage was champion, he almost felt like an afterthought here. And The Giant’s momentum has really slowed down. But this was a fun show.
