Sunday night’s episode of “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” on HBO Max, featured a segment on ICE and DHS, that included mention of the anti-ICE chants at the start of the World Championship Eliminator match between Brody King and MJF on the February 4 episode AEW Dynamite in Las Vegas, Nevada
“Excellent. Well done to everyone involved there,” Oliver said. “From the crowd getting their point across in the perfect way, to MJF going full Jim from ‘The Office’ [while looking] into the camera.”
At the start of the AEW World Championship Match between King and MJF at Grand Slam Australia on Saturday, the fans did a short “F— ICE” chant that was not edited, despite it being a taped show.
Last June at the Grand Slam Mexico event, King, wore an “ABOLISH ICE” shirt during his match.
During a recent interview with Ross Tucker, MJF said that he thinks it is really cool that AEW listens to their fanbase and doesn’t sensor them, regardless of the political climate.
