HBO Max and Paramount+ would merge into one streaming service if sale is final

During a conference call on Monday, Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison said that HBO Max and Paramount+ would merge into one streaming platform following the sale of Warner Bros. Discovery to Paramount Skydance.

HBO Max has a 131 million subscribers, while Paramount+ sits currently at 79 million.

Warner Bros. Discovery has less than 10 percent stock in AEW. However, it is not clear at this time if that specific investment divests should the sale be finalized or through if Paramount would retain the investment.

AEW’s current TV rights contract for TBS, TNT and HBO Max with WBD runs through 2027, with WBD holding an option to extend through 2028.

The sale of WBD to Paramount Skydance still needs regulatory approval.
