Report: Backstage update on Danhausen’s WWE debut

A new report from Fightful Select has shed some light on the WWE debut of Danhausen at Elimination Chamber.

The former AEW talent’s contract had been extended into February due to injury time, despite his request to not have his option picked up.

It was noted that interest from within WWE had circulated for quite some time, with the “very nice, very evil” competitor always planned to be revealed from the mysterious crate once that storyline kicked off.

Sources within the company have indicated that the expectation was always for Danhausen to retain his established name and gimmick, though creative discussions may have included alternate ideas.

He is also expected to be utilized across multiple brands, including potential AAA appearances if needed.

The debut at Elimination Chamber sparked some internal chatter, with one source feeling the mixed reaction from fans in Chicago only added to the character’s offbeat appeal.

Danhausen is reportedly expected to appear on WWE Raw this week, with upcoming independent bookings and convention appearances to be pulled as the company takes full control of his schedule.
