Report: WrestleMania 42 could see a record number of women’s matches

It looks as if WWE WrestleMania 42 could have a record number of women’s match on the card, across both nights.

According to a report from WrestleVotes WWE creative has at least six women’s matches taking place, with five described as firmly planned.

Stephanie Vaquer defending the Women’s World Championship against Liv Morgan, Jade Cargill defending the Women’s Championship against have already been announced for WrestleMania. A rematch that would see Becky Lynch challenging AJ Lee for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship is expected to land on the card. Also, a possible Women’s United States Title Match and Women’s Tag Team Title Match could take place, brining the number of women’s matches to six over both nights.

The previous record for most women’s matches on a single WrestleMania was WrestleMania 36 during the COVID pandemic era in 2020.

WrestleMania 42 takes place at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada just outside of Las Vegas on Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19. At the time of this report, ticket sales for both nights are still considerably down as compared to last year in the same venue.
