Following John Cena’s March 30 announcement that he will be hosting WrestleMania 42, WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, has provided more details on when it all came together.
The report notes there were no plans for Cena to host WrestleMania 42 at the time of his retirement match back on December 13, 2025. WWE informed Cena of their plans back in February and he agreed to it at that time and this was a decision in an effort to increase ticket sales, which continue to lag.
Wrestlevotes also states that Cena has signed a new long-term deal with WWE that does not include him performing as an in-ring talent.
Cena is currently in Hollywood, filming a comedy movie for Netflix, titled “One Attempt Remaining.” The also stars Kate McKinnon, Jennifer Garner and Amy Carrero.
