Report: TNA blocked match between Bear Bronson and AEW champion

The saga of TNA pulling talent from facing AEW stars continues…

According to a new report from Fightful Select, current AEW World Champion was set to face TNA’s Bear Bronson at a GCW event last month, but TNA’s management blocked it.

This new report comes as now Nic Nemeth vs. MJF has been pulled from the May 1 Create-A-Pro event. MJF was none to happy, calling out Silva on social media for the move. Also, the match that has scheduled between AEW’s Ricochet and TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater for the Wrestlecon SuperShow in Las Vegas, Nevada has also been pulled by TNA.

Per Fightful Select’s sources, the reason these matches have been pulled is due to TNA’s President Carlos Silva not being pleased that AEW ran Collision up against last Thursday’s IMPACT on AMC, due to TNT’s coverage on Saturday of the NCAA Tournament. The report adds that it was Warner Bros. Discovery’s decision to run Collision against TNA, not Tony Khan’s. It should also be noted that Collision has aired opposite IMPACT in the past, but when the show aired on AXS-TV and not a more audience wide network such as AMC.

Earlier reports from Fightful Select noted that Silva had said matches were pulled due to “partner conflicts.” It should be noted that WWE is in multi-year partnership with TNA.

Jody Threat wrestling Mercedes Mone’ on March 31 in Winnipeg, with Threat dethroning Mone’s of the WPW Women’s Championship took place with no concerns. At the time of report, it was not clear why this was different.
