IMPACT Results – 3/9/23 (Knockouts World Title Match and more!)

Bully Ray kicks off the show and looks back on No Surrender, where he threw hot coffee in Tommy Dreamer’s face during the first-ever LIVE Busted Open. On social media, a fired-up Dreamer challenged Bully to a Busted Open match at Sacrifice but Bully claims that he’ll be unable to compete. Director of Authority Santino Marella interrupts and announces that Dreamer will be cleared by Sacrifice, making the Busted Open match official. Bhupinder Gujjar, who has stood of up for Dreamer in recent weeks, challenges Bully to a match right here, right now!

Bully wraps the steel chain around his fist but Gujjar sees it coming and ducks out of the way. Bully gains control with a strong clothesline. Gujjar puts his hands behind his back and invites Bully to chop him in the chest. Gujjar fights back, taking him off his feet with a dropkick. Gujjar is about to use the chain but Bully delivers a low blow to cause the disqualification.

Tommy Dreamer hits the ring and attacks Bully but out of nowhere, Masha Slamovich goes low on Dreamer. Knockouts World Champion is out next, cracking Bully in the back with a kendo stick. A brawl breaks out between James and Slamovich as she holds the ring with Dreamer and Gujjar.

PCO wanders the Las Vegas desert where he was buried and dares Eddie Edwards to fight him!

IMPACT World Champion Josh Alexander asks Rich Swann to be one of his partners in the six-man tag team match against Time Machine at Sacrifice. Swann graciously accepts when Steve Maclin interrupts and demands to be the third member of their team. Maclin wants to scout Alexander for their World Title match at Rebellion but Alexander informs him that he already found another partner – Frankie Kazarian.

Callihan w/ The Design (Deaner, Kon & Angels) vs Rhino w/ Heath

Callihan faces step 6 in his initiation process to join The Design: “The War Machine” Rhino! Callihan rakes the eyes but Rhino comes right back with a clothesline. The fight spills to the outside where Rhino inadvertently chops the steel ring post. Rhino hits a back suplex on the hardest part of the ring but gets taken out with a side Russian leg sweep on the ramp. Back in the ring, Rhino hits the TKO for a very close near fall. Rhino hits a belly-to-belly suplex out of the corner but Callihan counters the follow-up Gore attempt into a clothesline. In a shocking turn of events, Angels trips up Callihan from the outside, allowing Kon to clobber him in the head with a steel chair. Rhino hits the Gore to win.

X-Division Champion Trey Miguel confronts Santino Marella and Dirty Dango about not being booked for a match at No Surrender. Marella gives Miguel a chance to cement his legacy when he faces his handpicked opponent at Sacrifice! Not only that, but the X-Division Title will be on the line at Multiverse United: Only the STRONG Survive as the champion defends against Rich Swann, Frankie Kazarian, Rocky Romero, Kevin Knight and Clark Connors.

Meanwhile, Johnny Swinger and Zicky Dice are in search of an opponent for the first match in Swinger’s quest to 50 wins and an IMPACT World Title shot.

We see footage from during the commercial break where Deaner reveals that Callihan has passed step 6 in his initiation process.

Jordynne Grace vs Alex Gracia

As Jordynne Grace prepares to challenge the winner of tonight’s main event for the Knockouts World Title at Sacrifice, she must first battle Alex Gracia! Grace attempts the Grace Driver in the early going but Gracia fights it off. Grace hits a spinning slam out of the corner, then successfully connects with the Grace Driver to win.

Moose and Brian Myers blindside Joe Hendry in the back as Myers claims that the Digital Media Title belongs to him.

IMPACT World Champion Josh Alexander, Rich Swann and Frankie Kazarian look to tune-up for Sacrifice as they challenge Bullet Club to a blockbuster six-man tag team match next week!

Jonathan Gresham vs KUSHIDA

In a preview of what’s to come at Multiverse United: Only the STRONG Survive, it’s IMPACT vs NJPW as Jonathan Gresham battles KUSHIDA! It’s a stalemate in the early going as both competitors jockey for position. KUSHIDA breaks free of a hammerlock and connects with a German suplex. KUSHIDA attempts to lock in an armbar but Gresham makes it to the bottom rope before it can be applied. Both men are down following in-sync shoulder tackles in the middle of the ring. KUSHIDA submits Gresham off the Hoverboard Lock to win.

After the match, Gresham and KUSHIDA shake hands in a show of respect.

Eddie Edwards is being driven to the Las Vegas desert where PCO challenged him to a fight earlier tonight.

Killer Kelly is in the ring to address her recent issues with “The Wilde Witch” Taylor Wilde. It was just a few weeks ago that Wilde abandoned Kelly during their Knockouts World Tag Team Title opportunity. Wilde comes to the ring and tells Kelly to pick a card. Kelly says that she makes her own destiny but Wilde fires back and chooses it for her. Wilde reveals The Tower card which represents massive change, upheaval, destruction and chaos. Out of nowhere, KiLynn King blindsides Kelly with a steel chair to the back. Wilde calls the shots as King drives Kelly into the mat with brutal force!

Backstage, Knockouts World Tag Team Champions the Death Dollz offer their assistance to Killer Kelly but she turns it down. Taylor Wilde and KiLynn King interrupt, challenging the Death Dollz to a Knockouts World Tag Team Title match. The Death Dollz agree under one condition: if they win, Wilde must stop practicing dark magic.

Eddie Edwards and PCO brawl in the Las Vegas desert! PCO gains the upper-hand and is about to bury Edwards when he’s run over by a car!

Knockouts World Champion Mickie James vs Gisele Shaw w/ Jai Vidal & Savannah Evans – Knockouts World Championship

Deonna Purrazzo joins Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt on commentary for this Knockouts World Title showdown between Mickie James and Gisele Shaw! James gains the early advantage with a neckbreaker on the floor. Jai Vidal and Savannah Evans provide a distraction from the outside, allowing Shaw to take control. James hits a head scissors out the corner, followed by the flapjack to gain control. James is headed to the top but Shaw retreats to the outside. James soars, taking out both Vidal and Evans on the floor. Shaw capitalizes with a big boot for two. Moments later, both Knockouts are down after a clash of heads. Shaw is back up to her feet first as they exchange strikes in the middle of the ring. James builds momentum with another flapjack, followed by her signature seated senton. Shaw counters the Mick Kick into a superkick. James goes for the Mick-DT but Vidal jumps on the apron. Deonna Purrazzo evens the odds, pulling Vidal down to the floor. Shaw rolls up James but Purrazzo turns it around while the referee is distracted with Evans. James scores the pinfall to remain Knockouts World Champion.

After the match, James comes to the realization that one of her greatest rivals just helped her retain the Knockouts World Title. James celebrates as IMPACT! goes off the air.
