IMPACT hires former ROH writer and booker, more on Jimmy Jacobs and AEW

According to PWInsider, Jimmy Jacobs’ departure from IMPACT Wrestling had been known for some time within the company. It was said Jacobs officially finished up with IMPACT at last Friday night’s Against All Odds PPV and fallout tapings in Columbus, Ohio. The report also notes that Jacobs gave notice to IMPACT several weeks ago. Furthermore, it was said that IMPACT President Scott D’Amore informed the talent and staff several weeks ago by email that Jacobs would be leaving the company.

However, D’Amore has replaced Jacobs with former Ring of Honor booker Hunter “Delirious” Johnston. According to the report from PWInsider, Johnston was officially hired as a writer and producer several weeks back. D’Amore informed IMPACT staff and talent several weeks ago that Johnston was coming on board in the same email where he had announced Jacobs’ exit.

Jacobs had been with IMPACT Wrestling for over five years and was the head of the creative process, reporting to Scott D’Amore.  The belief as of this writing, is that Johnston’s duties will be split among several members of the creative team, so that no one eventually will get burned out. Jacobs’ exit from IMPACT was said to be “absolutely amicable.” He received a lot of high marks internally for working as hard as he did during his exiting process, when the feeling was he did not have to, since he had his AEW position waiting for him.
