During his latest Talk Is Jericho podcast, Chris Jericho commented on the TNA Bound For Glory pay-per-view, which took place back on October 12 at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Massachusetts.
Jericho specifically stated the TNA crowd was “like a WWE-level.” Jericho also went on to compare the Bound for Glory presentation to AEW during its residency at 2300 Arena.
“I don’t think I’ve watched an Impact -sorry, a TNA – match in ages, if not this decade at all. I was so impressed,” Jericho said. “Well, first of all, you guys had a match. I didn’t even – it wasn’t even the match. It was the beginning part before you guys even locked up. It was the end part after it happened. Like that, I’m getting little goosebumps. That’s pro wrestling in its ultimate form. That’s all that matters is that emotion and that reaction...that was one thing. Two, that f——- crowd looked huge. It looked huge. It was like a WWE-level crowd.”
During Bound For Glory, TNA announced an attendance record of 7,794. However, a recent report pertaining to documents released by the University of Massachusetts Lowell, which owns the Tsongas Center, show a total of 5,554 tickets sold and a turnstile count at 6,137.
TNA spokesperson Ross Forman responded to questions regarding the conflicting numbers by stating the announced crowd was “verified by the venue management team at the Tsongas Center,” confirming the announcement of the figure surpassing the previous North American record set by Slammiversary in July.
Keith Vaske, District General Manager for the venue’s operator Oak View Group, further stated the attendance to be a record for a ticketed sporting event at the Tsongas Center, noting that the total attendance accounts for additional seats and standing room only “occupied by TNA credential guests, media, staff, VIPs, and other groups.”
Jericho last appeared on the April 9 episode of Dynamite, essentially disbanding The Learning Tree faction. His deal with AEW ends sometime next month. There has been rumors he is WWE-bound once he is his contact with AEW is up.
