ECWA Oct. 16, 2010 Recap by Brady Hicks

The East Coast Wrestling Association (ECWA)’s resident superhero Courageous Cruz received some aid from the highest of allies on its most recent show, October 16th in Newark, Delaware. To the absolute delight of the hundreds in attendance, former WWE star The Hurricane stepped into the ring at the Greater Newark Boys’ & Girls’ Club to help Cruz’s band of heroes dispense their own form of justice against the villainous alliance of CUJO The Hellhound, “Canada’s Proudest Son” Jason Leigh w/ “Living Legend” Larry Winters & Coach Jim Shorts, Mr. Scott Wright, “Midnight Idol” Nicky Benz, and Mr. Ooh La La. And as Cruz and Hurricane – alongside ECWA newcomers The Blue Meanie, Kid America, and Shockwave the Robot – stood tall, having vanquished their enemies, The Hurricane would grab the microphone and proclaim his partners as a true force in the ECWA.

Unfortunately, there might just be too much crime for them to fight by themselves.

Early in the show, a retiring Commissioner Richard Naegele saw his farewell address ruined by Sebastian Night’s new group of rebelling ECWA hoodlums, who have grown dissatisfied with the new ownership of the ECWA. Naegele was attacked on his final night with the company by Night, JJ The Crew Guy, “Pitbull” Timothy Richards, and Jason XXXL for banning the group from ringside during Mega’s grudge match with former friend “The Beast” Glen Osbourne, in an effort to bring some resolution to the feud. Unfortunately, there was no resolution to be had as Osbourne – who had attacked his longtime ally to cost him his ECWA title last month – wrestled Mega to a double disqualification that saw Osbourne’s chain come into play. What will be the ramifications when Osbourne and Mega tangle again in December, this time in a no-countout, no-disqualification match? According to Osbourne, who was cornered in the locker room after the battle, “Come December 4th, there will be no more Mega!”

Meanwhile, just one month after winning his first ECWA Heavyweight title, “A-List” Andrew Ryker faced a challenge from a man he never would have suspected, as longtime fellow villain and former ECWA Heavyweight Champion Bazooka Joe was awarded a title shot by Naegele, via lottery, in one of his final acts as Commissioner. Despite coming out on the losing end in their eight-minute match, Joe seemed inspired enough by the fans’ appreciation of his hard work, and actually embraced the newfound love of the ECWA faithful, choosing to exit ringside on the side for the fan favorites.

Earlier in the evening, Tri-State Wrestling Alliance (TWA) TWA Tag Champions TJ Cannon and Bruce Maxwell, The Best Around (TBA), proved to be more than enough of a challenge for Matt Logan and Chase Del Monte (who was substituting for an injured Bryan Logan), winning the ECWA version of the tag team titles in a three-way tag match that also included Sean Royal and Dan Eckos (The Heavyweights) to a mixed reaction from the ECWA crowd. Unfortunately for fans of The Logans, Cannon and Maxwell proved they might just live up to their moniker as “the best around” after injuring and pinning Royal to claim the titles for themselves. Nobody in the ECWA seems to know when Bryan Logan’s broken and severely damaged hand will be healed enough to return to the company, but ECWA officials were quick to sign another rematch between TBA and the team of Matt Logan and Chase Del Monte for December 4th. Even though Logan and Del Monte are hardly regular partners, they are close friends and they have come very close to defeating TBA on several occasions in both the TWA and ECWA. If Cannon and Maxwell are wise, they will continue to study up on their challengers.

In other action on the show, newcomer “The Heart Killer” Chris Wylde upset Aden Chambers, pinning the only ECWA “Grand-Slam Champion,” JJ The Crew Guy was disqualified in his match with Corey Blaze, and Travis Blake defeated and humiliated Cona Cappuccia, a newcomer with aspirations of joining the Magnum Modeling Agency (MMA) when he, Magnum, and Press Agent Gus Grand would place a paper bag over his head following the match.

The complete card was as follows:

ECWA: Newark, Delaware–“The Heart Killer” Chris Wylde pinned Aden Chambers [11:14] … “The Fighting Paramedic” Corey Blaze defeated JJ The Crew Guy by disqualification after interference by Sebastian Night, “Pitbull” Timothy Richards, and Jason XXL [4:56] … Travis Blake (with Magnum and Gus Grand) pinned Cona Cappuccia in a “Magnum’s Modeling Agency Tryout” match [5:26] … The Heavyweights defeated ECWA Tag Champions Matt Logan and Chase Del Monte (substituting for Bryan Logan) and The Heavyweights in a three-way match, when TJ Cannon pinned Sean Royal [12:53] … Mega and Glen “The Beast” Osbourne wrestled to a double disqualification in a Grudge Match [7:49] … ECWA Champion “A-List” Andrew Ryker pinned Bazooka Joe [8:02] … Courageous Cruz, The Blue Meanie, Kid America, Shockwave The Robot, and The Hurricane defeated Cujo The Hellbound, Jason Leigh (with “Coach” Jim Shorts and Larry Winters), Mr. Scott Wright, Nicky Benz, and Mr. Ooh La La when Cruz pinned Cujo [13:22]. (10/16/10)
