Ring of Honor producer/director David Lagana has a new blog up on his website IWantWrestling.com talking about the final ROH on HDNet tapings this past weekend in Philadelphia.
“In 2008, after spending six years producing for Vince McMahon’s World Wrestling Entertainment, I was relieved of my duties. No George Clooney surrogate showed me the door. Stephanie McMahon-Levesque, with tears in her eyes, let me know that it was my last day. I always appreciated the gesture of her doing it personally and always being upfront with me. I was now being sent into the unknown. It was over a year before I found my next step. Thanks to the faith of Cary Silkin, Adam Pearce, Syd Eick, Adam Swift, Andrew Simon and Darrel Ewalt I was given another chance. The Ring of Honor on HDNet TV show was exactly what I needed.
I returned to the corner of Swanson and Ritner sixteen years later, this time as a TV producer. In the two-year run of the TV show, I became close with a group of men and women who inspire me on a daily basis. This group of “independent” talent continually proves they have more heart and talent then models and jocks just handed a pair of boots. The ROH locker room never slacks off; always improving and putting the entertainment of the fans first. I am excited by every day I get to work with them; a desire I lost towards the end of my time in WWE. While technically the TV show ends on April 4th, my passion for each of the wrestlers and the company will never end.”
