Event to Honor Pro Wrestling Legend Boris Malenko
(Riverview, FL) – K-Five Fellas and Definitive Wrestling International present the 2nd annual Boris “The Great” Malenko Memorial Cup on Sunday, June 26 at 1:00 p.m. at the Riverview Flea Market, located at 7415 Hwy 301 S. in Riverview, FL.
The event is a tribute to one of professional wrestling’s legends of the late 1950’s through the late 1970’s. Malenko, renowned as the master of the Russian Chain Match, sold out arenas throughout the world. His battles with other legends such as Eddie Graham, Wahoo McDaniel, Bill Watts, Dusty Rhodes, Joe Scarpa and the Gladiator are still talked about today.
The world of Professional Wrestling was forever changed on September 1, 1994, that is the day Malenko passed away at the age of 61 from Leukemia.
Upon his retirement from the ring wars in 1978, Malenko became one of the best and most respected trainers in the wrestling world, having trained such stars as Joe and Dean Malenko, Sean Waltman (X-Pac), Bob Orton, Jr., Mike Graham, Barry Horowitz, Prince Iaukea, Rusty Brooks, Typhoon/Tugboat, Demolition Axe, Norman Smiley, former World Champion Al Perez, Gangrel, Luna Vachon, Frankie Reyes, Penelope Paradise and so many more.
The card is highlighted by the “Malenko School of Wrestling” Alumni Battle Royal featuring graduates such as Jumbo Barretta, Masked Superstar, Bill Weaver, Frankie Reyes, the Ayala Brothers and Jose Lopez, to name a few. Also on the card will be a 2nd Generation Match with sons of alumni Rusty Brooks and Bob Cook, J Dawg Brooks and Robbie Cook, facing each other with second generation referee Adam Reyes officiating.
DWI Champion Jerome Hendrix will defend his title against Bruiser Bronson and in his retirement match Alumni Maddog Artie Strong meets Russian Assassin plus the DWI Tag Team Title match and many more!
There will be many alumni in attendance including Special Guests Joe Malenko along with 970 WFLA radio’s Tedd Webb and special guest announcer EA Sports MMA Video Game’s Shannon Rose.

Have been following something that came out of Amarillo independent wrestling promotion Renegade Outlaw Wrestling.
From what I have collected, ROW members Dave Ryder and Chris Romero announced this past Thursday that their show, which was to be the Jay Youngblood Memorial Tag Team Tournament, was canceled. No other info was given, but that the show was canceled “until further notice”.
On the day the show was to be, Dave Ryder made the announcement that Chris Romero was not in Amarillo, and that it may in fact have been canceled for good. Rumors are now floating that supposedly Chris left town with his family, and is booked for a show in Florida.
Many former and current ROW stars have their own opinions on Facebook of this situation. Some just look at it as a misunderstanding, as others are very upset on this situation. There has been no word from Chris since he announced the show’s canceling.
