ROH Results 7/8/2011
Richmond, VA
By: Jason “JerseyViper” Namako
Hello everyone, JerseyViper here with results from tonight’s Ring of Honor show from Richmond, VA. Couple of notes before we get started. Due to the horrible weather in the Northeast, Chris Hero and Ring of Honor booker Hunter Johnston, otherwise known as Delirious, were unable to fly in and make the show this evening. ROH Executive Producer Jim Cornette took over the backstage duties for this evening and there was a replacement for Hero in his match with Rhett Titus. Now, with that out of the way, let’s get on to the show.
Ring of Honor World Champion Davey Richards came out to start the show to do an interview with Jim Cornette, but was interrupted by Roderick Strong & Truth Martini. A bunch of trash talking commences and it seems like there is gonna be an early preview of tonight’s main event as Michael Elgin & Eddie Edwards run out as well. However, Truth Martini backs his men away as he does not want any violence until the main event.
Match Number One in the 1st Match of the ROH Tag Team Title Lottery: Adam Cole & Kyle O’Reilly defeated The C & C Wrestle Factory (Caprice Coleman & Cedric Alexander) when O’Reilly pinned Alexander after a version of former ECW tag team The Eliminators double team finishing move, The Total Elimination.
Match Number Two in the 2nd Match of the ROH Tag Team Title Lottery: In what has to be considered the upset of the year, The Bravado Brothers defeated The Briscoes thanks to interference from Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team. The Briscoes had the match won after hitting the Doomsday Device, but Charlie Haas distracted the referee. Jay Briscoe went to get a chair, but Shelton Benjamin ran in and nailed Briscoe with the Paydirt and put Lancelot Bravado on top of Jay for the 3 count.
Match Number Three: “The Prodigy” Mike Bennett defeated “The Pretty Boy Pitbull” Kenny King by using a handful of tights after several pin attempts back and forth.
Rhett Titus comes out to argue the decision and it is eventually reversed in the favor of Kenny King. Bennett is furious about the overturn and attacks Titus from behind. Jim Cornette comes out and gives Bennett an ultimatium: Either face Titus later tonight or be suspended for his actions. Bennett agrees to faces Titus.
Match Number Four for the ROH Tag Team Titles: Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team(c) defeated ROH TV Champion “The Generic Luchador” El Generico & Colt “Boom Boom” Cabana to retain the titles when Benjamin pinned Cabana.
The Briscoes came out prior to the match to gain a measure of revenge on Haas & Benjamin but were stopped by officials. Jim Cornette comes out and has the Briscoes thrown out and banned from the building.
Match Number Five in the Finals of the ROH Tag Team Title Lottery: Adam Cole & Kyle O’Reilly defeated The Bravado Brothers to earn a future shot at the ROH Tag Team Titles when O’Reilly made Harlem submit after the floatover suplex/gulliotine choke combo.
Match Number Six: Rhett Titus defeated “The Prodigy” Mike Bennett after an elevated DDT. While Titus was down, Bennett went to get a chain from his boot but Kenny King ran out and took the chain away from Bennett, distracting him long enough for Titus to take advantage and get the victory.
Main Event: The American Wolves (ROH World Champion “The Lone Wolf” Davey Richards & “Die Hard” Eddie Edwards) defeated The House of Truth (Roderick Strong & “The Unbreakable” Michael Elgin) w/Truth Martini
And that is all from Richmond, be sure to check in tomorrow or early Sunday for the results from tomorrow’s night show in Charlotte. This has been JerseyViper, see you all later, HISSSSSSSSSS.
