1/5 Ring of Honor Newswire

January 5th Newswire

– Happy New Year to all from everyone at Ring of Honor! We hope your holiday season was safe and prosperous, and thank you all for supporting ROH as we move into the next decade. We?re hoping 2010 brings many exciting and memorable moments in ROH, and we?re happy to have you all along for the ride!

– Thank you to everyone that tuned in last night to see Roderick Strong and Davey Richards kick off 2010 in proper fashion on HDNet! After all of the hoopla surrounding the wrestling industry yesterday, we?ll let that match speak for itself! If you missed the broadcast last night, don?t forget to check the official ROH YouTube page later this week to see the best WRESTLING on American television! Please let us know what you thought of last night’s episode at twitter.com/rohonhdnet!

– Thank you to each and every one of you who let your voice be heard. After more than 650 votes from around the globe, we?ve read you loud and clear. We received votes from all over the United States, as well as Canada, England, and Japan, and even votes from the Czech Republic, Norway, Chile, and Portugal! We can?t thank you all enough for checking in. As for the vote, by garnering 86% of the ballots you cast, Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards – The American Wolves ? are the fans? choice and will once more face The Young Bucks THIS FRIDAY in South Philadelphia as ROH and HDNet convene to film 6 more episodes of the best wrestling program on television! Their first encounter on HDNet was widely praised as one of the best television matches of 2009, and now these four men have a chance to up the ante and leave their mark on 2010! Be there if you can to see the fruits of your labor and witness tag team wrestling at its best!

– The Dark City Fight Club is not happy about the fans choosing The American Wolves to face the Young Bucks on Friday night. The DCFC wanted a shot at taking the Bucks out and Davis and Chavis are now promising to take their frustration out on someone Friday night. In addition, the DCFC has challenged the American Wolves to a tag team match on Saturday! Shane Hagadorn was almost nonchalant in his acceptance of the match stating, ?So be it. Looks like the 2010 hunt begins with big prey.? It’s the Wolves versus the DCFC on Saturday in Philly!

– ATTENTION PHILADELPHIA: As announced yesterday, Ring of Honor has moved the start time of Saturday’s taping up to 4pm EST to accommodate the 8pm beginning of the Eagles/Cowboys NFL playoff game. Thank you for your understanding and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

– Signed to round out Ring of Honor’s January 29 Los Angeles debut is a singles contest that could certainly have an impact on the Pick 6 Contenders Series. Currently ranked fifth in the Pick 6, Roderick Strong has agreed to face Delirious one-on-one. This could be a strategic move for Strong, as Delirious is set to face the number two seed, Kevin Steen, on Friday night in South Philly. If Delirious knocks Steen off, Strong could have the chance to jump up several spots with a big win in L.A. A lot of scenarios will be sorted out after this weekend’s HDNet tapings, but it appears that Strong is positioning himself for big things in 2010.
