The PHF, Inc. was founded in 2009 by Michael & Kim Illions along with 3 other New Jersey families who have a child with Hydrocephalus. The Illions’ son Cole, is 6 years old and has had 13 brain surgeries to date to treat Hydrocephalus.
Michael Illions’ connection to Pro-Wrestling goes back to the 1990’s when he was the in-ring Commissioner for the NWA-NJ organization as A.J. Sparxx. Illions also owned or co-owned New Jack City Wrestling, American Wrestling Council and the Independent Wrestling Federation, which included the IWF Wrestling School in New Jersey with Kevin Knight. The IWF Wrestling School has trained the WWE’s Darren Young and TNA’s Robbie E.
The Pediatric Hydrocephalus Foundation, a non-profit 501(c) (3) charitable organization, educates the community by raising the level of awareness about hydrocephalus and provides support to families, friends, and children affected by this incurable life-threatening brain condition.
The PHF also raises money for and works with the medical community in searching for a cure and additional treatment options for those with hydrocephalus. Additionally, the PHF advocates on behalf of the members of the hydrocephalus community and works with policy makers at the state and federal levels to raise awareness and push for more research and support in the fight against hydrocephalus. All donations are tax-deductible.
In 2010, the PHF gave out over $41,000 in donations and grants to hospitals and medical facilities for research projects relating to hydrocephalus. For more information, visit www.hydrocephaluskids.org.
