Akbar shrugs off loss in PPV debut, sets sights on AWE title
The son of an Arab oil magnate, Mohammad Akbar didn’t quite know how to react to “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan.
Calling the Hall of Famer a “Neanderthal” and “barbarian,” Akbar still dominated long stretches of their match at the AWE Night of Legends pay-per-view before the veteran rallied to score what many viewed as an upset victory.
Akbar, for his part, shrugged off the defeat in his pay-per-view debut. For Akbar, the match with Duggan was a linchpin in his effort to educate American wrestling fans with his message – that the U.S. is, counter to its ideals, viewed by many the world over as militantly aggressive and racially biased.
“What rubs the rest of the world the wrong way is the arrogance with which you Americans go about your business, which happens to screw over everybody else in the world,” Akbar said.
Duggan is “a perfect example of that,” Akbar said.
“If it takes me putting on a pair of tights and beating up ‘Hacksaw’ Jim Duggan, hey, wake up, pay attention, this just might be a receipt for how you treat everybody else,” Akbar said.
“AWE is my platform, and that pay-per-view was a perfect platform for me to go out and spread my message, which is exactly what I did,” said Akbar, who also feels he proved to AWE fans that “their hero, ‘Hacksaw’ Jim Duggan, has to resort to unsavory tactics in order to hold this young lion down.”
“Since the pay-per-view, people have been calling me the Lion of Zion,” Akbar said. “You can’t believe everything you read on the Internet, but you can believe that Mohammad Akbar is jacked, he’s tan, and he got exactly what he wanted to get out at AWE Night of the Legends.”
Next in Akbar’s sights: a shot at the AWE World Heavyweight Title.
“Titles provide a higher level of a platform on the AWE stage. So of course Mohammad Akbar has the aspiration of becoming the AWE heavyweight champion. If you’re the top guy, then you get the time to speak your mind,” Akbar said.

We are now under two weeks away from AOD/CWE’s Fan Appreciation Night! With what is already being predicted to be a match of the year candidate main event the rest of the evening’s matches are starting to shape up proving AOD/CWE provides the best Canadian wrestling has to offer. Here is what has just been released!
“Classic” Matt Fairlane vs. “Supreme Adonna” Tommy Lee Curtis
Two of the company’s hungriest competitors continue to try and fight their way to the top of the rankings. This first time ever encounter features “A Rumble to Remember” runner up Matt Fairlane do battle with Lance Storm Wrestling Academy graduate Tommy Lee Curtis. Fairlane has opened a lot of eyes with his aggressive transformation from a “Strip N Dale” to the ass kicking Matt Fairlane of old with a trail of broken bodies and victories piling up. Fairlane opened up even more eyes when he almost went the distance in the 50 man rumble only to be the last man eliminated. Tommy Lee Curtis has had a break out year himself taking both the CWE champion and CWE Tag Team champions to the limit in recent months. With it being encouraged for new stars to break out of the pack and into the main event picture these two have taken that notice quite seriously and look to keep the momentum rolling when they face off on Dec 16th! “Pimp Daddy” Rick Matthews vs. “Murder City Saint” Nate Hardy
Two of the most exciting wrestlers in the company are scheduled to face off for the first time in AOD/CWE! Rick Matthews had a strong start to the year but after suffering a few injuries he has yet to regain his footing and success he had before getting hurt. He has the perfect opportunity to get back on track when he challenges fan favorite and high flyer Nate Hardy. Nate Hardy and Darian Karisma have been leaving audiences breathless with their high risk style of wrestling in the tag team division. Both members of the Saints venture into singles action on this night with Nate fresh off coming close to winning A Rumble to Remember making it to the final four despite his size disadvantage. With both men building a reputation for putting their bodies on the line this should be a fast paced high impact match not to be missed!
Zack Mercury vs. “Murder City Saint” Darian Karisma
It what appears on paper to be a classic David vs. Goliath battle the massive Zack Mercury will do battle with a man half his size in Darian Karisma. The recently attitude adjusted Zack Mercury has turned his back on the fans and fellow wrestlers alike taking a “it’s now about me” approach to his career that started with a disgusting display of violence against his mentor and friend “Beautiful” Bobby Jay months ago. Z-Merc has championship gold in his sights and is looking to make an example of anyone put in his way. In this case the exciting Darian Karisma stands in his way and has made it quite clear he has no intentions of backing down or becoming an example of Zack Mercury’s. It isn’t unusual for Karisma to be the underdog and after successful matches against larger opponents like Moses Luke and Sabretooth earlier this year he is confident his hand will be raised in victory on Dec 16th!
