Press Release for George Tragos/Lou Thesz Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame show presented by Impact Pro Wrestling

Friday July 13th, as part of the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame induction weekend in Waterloo, Iowa, Impact Pro Wrestling will present their annual Hall of Fame wrestling show. Many of this year’s hall of fame inductees and special honorees will be attending the wrestling event on Friday evening. They include Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle, John Bradshaw Layfield, Road Warrior Animal, Bill Apter, Baron Von Raschke, Gerald Briscoe, Danny Hodge, Bob Roop, Perry Saturn, Colt Cabana and many more. This is a truly a once in a lifetime opportunity to have these wrestling greats under the same roof at one time. Proceeds from the event will go to International Wrestling Hall of Fame and Dan Gable Museum. The museum, located in Waterloo, Iowa, houses the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame wing.

In the main event, trainer and 15 year veteran of professional wrestling, TS Aggressor will take on IPW heavyweight champion Nicky Free in a special Legends Lumberjack match. Nicky Free was the most hated wrestler in Waterloo at last year’s show. This year he has called out TS. TS was more than up to the challenge and is looking to shut the champion up in front of the great fans of Waterloo. Many of the legends attending will be participating at ringside. The rules are simple: get thrown out and the lumberjacks will make sure you get thrown back in!

Also on the card is the third annual Lou Thesz Cup Battle Royal. 20 wrestlers will by vying to be the last person to avoid being thrown over the top rope. The winner will be presented with a trophy and the honor of being the sole survivor. Last year’s winner was James Jeffries after he eliminated an unannounced special participant, Austin Aries. This year wrestlers are representing 12 different independent wrestling companies from throughout the country.

Perry Saturn will be in action when he takes on AJ Smooth from Team Canada. Perry has recently returned to the ring and is more determined than ever to make the climb to the top. AJ Smooth would like nothing more than to derail Saturn from his path. To ensure his success, Smooth will surely be accompanied to the ring by his fellow members of Team Canada, Ryan Slade and Matty Star. Perry has stated that he will have a special surprise for them if they decide to get too involved in the action. Be there on July 13th to cheer on the inspirational rise of Perry Saturn.

Another wrestler competing for Impact Pro Wrestling in Waterloo, that has made a name for himself all over the world, is Colt Cabana. Colt Cabana has been wrestling for 13 years. He is currently NWA World Heavyweight Champion. The National Wrestling Alliance was founded in 1948 in Waterloo, Iowa at a hotel a few blocks away from where the July 13th Hall of Fame show will be taking place. The man facing Cabana will be none other than Marshall Scott. Marshall is no stranger to facing champions. He challenged Ring of Honor champion Tyler Black and has faced former NWA champion The Sheik. This should be a great matchup of similar styles.

Latin Thunder will be facing off against “The Punk Rock Icon” Tony Sly. These two have never faced each other in singles competition. Tony Sly came up on the short end of the stick at last year’s Hall of Fame show against Colt Cabana. Latin Thunder is wrestling on his first Hall of Fame show, but he is a 15 year veteran that has wrestled for many companies in Texas as well as the throughout the Midwest.

The IPW Tag team titles will be up for grabs when champions James Jeffries and “Big Picture” Ashton Christopher defend against former champions, Justin Decent and Ugly. Decent and Ugly had a falling out recently, but look to put their differences aside and regain the titles from their arch-rivals. Whenever these two teams have faced each other it has been a street fight. July 13th will for sure be no different. Matches will be presided over by Senior IPW official Billy J.

The doors open for the event at 5:30 PM with a 7 PM bell time. There will be plenty of time for fans to interact with the wrestling legends before the show. It is a very laid back atmosphere that is designed to be fan-friendly to the nth degree. The wrestling show will take place at the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center connected to the Ramada Inn. When reserving hotel rooms mention the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame Weekend and get a special rate ( 319-233-7560). Advanced tickets for the wrestling show are $15.00 for Ringside (first 4 rows) and $10.00 General Admission. Tickets are $2.00 more at the door. Tickets are available directly from the museum located at 303 Jefferson Street, Waterloo, Iowa, 50701 (319) 233-0745 or dgmstaff@nwhof.org .
