Wrestleview’s Rocky Jimenez passed this along.

The following was posted by NWA President R. Bruce Tharpe on the official NWA Wrestling Facebook page.

Due to injuries sustained at an NWA™ card in Houston, Texas on Friday, October 12, NWA™ World Junior Heavyweight Champion “The Modern Day Warrior” Kevin Douglas was unable to defend his championship against top rated challenger Chase Owens on October 13 as part of an NWA™ Smokey Mountain show in Kingsport, Tennessee.

Mr. Douglas informed my office that his injuries will most likely prevent him fro m competing for more than thirty days. Time-honored NWA™ rules mandate that a title is declared vacant when the current champion cannot answer the bell for thirty days or longer.

Therefore, it is my duty as NWA™ President to announce that in the best interests of NWA™ fans in Tennessee and around the world, I have exercised my discretion and hereby retroactively declare that the title was vacant two hours prior to bell time in Tennessee yesterday. NWA™ Smokey Mountain was directed and officially authorized to make a match between the leading area contenders for the NWA™ World Junior Heavyweight Championship.

By virtue of his victory last night in Tennessee, the National Wrestling Alliance™ hereby recognizes and congratulates Chase Owens as the new NWA™ World Junior Heavyweight Champion.
However, as a condition to this official proclamation, my office hereby orders and decrees that Chase Owens will defend his newly won championship against Kevin Douglas on Saturday, November 24, 2012 as part of the NWA™ Smokey Mountain show to be held in Rogersville, Tennessee.

In view of the circumstances surrounding this controversial situation, the Board of Directors is of the opinion that the match should take place in a 15 foot high steel cage and will be one fall to a finish. The NWA™ World Junior Heavyweight Title will be on the line.

R. Bruce Tharpe, President
National Wrestling Alliance™
