UK WRESTLING EXPERIENCE PRESENTS “ROAD TO THE GOLD 2009”
UKW is currently experiencing a very exciting phase in the company, and the time is almost upon us for the crowning of the very first UKW champions. The date will be Sunday August 23rd 2009, and it is a date that will define UKW’s future, and that of it’s wrestling stars.
UKW will be presenting an eight man single elimination tournament, as eight selected stars battle it out, match after match, until only one remains as the new UKW Champion. This will be a true test of their character, their talents, and their sheer determination; but only one man will be able to say at the end of the evening that they became the first ever UKW Champion, and this will be an achievement that they will be able to speak about for their entire professional wrestling career. Are the stakes high? Definitely.
To give you some background to this tournament, we take you back to UKW’s debut show, “Wrestlebration”, which was held on Sunday July 12th 2009. Taking place from the UKW Wrestling Academy, we saw a series of pre-qualifying matches; where the winners advanced to the UKW Championship Tournament at “Road To The Gold”. Competitors that made it through the qualifying stages, include Kevin Thorne, Dylan Roberts, Tiger McGuigan, ?Iron Man? Mike Roberts, Mr. Danger; and Mick Romeo. Three more places are still to be filled in the tournament, and these will be decided at UKW’s first filmed episode of “Saturday Night Mayhem”, that will also take place from the UKW Wrestling Academy; on Saturday August 15th 2009.
As stated previously, UKW fans, and the professional wrestling media; saw the UKW debut of Kevin Thorne on July 12th 2009 at “Wrestlebration”. Kevin is an American professional wrestler, who is probably best known for his time working with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) on its ECW brand under the ring name Kevin Thorn. Kevin brings a legitimate star power to UKW, and shows that the company is very serious in it’s intentions of becoming a player in the UK’s professional wrestling scene.
“Road To The Gold” will also feature the first UKW Tag Team Championship match, for the vacant titles. There will also be a UKW Championship ‘Number One Contender’ match, which will be an over the top rope elimination battle royal, and this will decide who will be the first UKW Champion’s main contender for the title. There will also be the first UKW Women’s Match, and the filming of UKW’s first episode of “Saturday Night Mayhem” on Saturday August 15th will see the debut of one half of the women’s match on the 23rd August; Faith Lehaine.
UKW “Road To The Gold” will be an exciting night full of wrestling action, and family entertainment. It will also be our first “Rock ?n? Wrestling” event, as it will feature live music during the show as well.
