Afro Boy & “Son of Tonga” Kava defeated C.J. O’Doyle & Mike Cruz to advance to the finals of the tag team turmoil. Jerrelle Clarke defeated Taino. Betsy Ruth defeated Valentina. In the tag team turmoil finals, Afro Boy & Kava defeated the Hatchet City All-Stars by DQ when Sgt. Hardcore & Rico Moon tried attack Kava, the nephew of Haku who Hardcore challenged earlier. Great Championship Wrestling results from March 5 in Phenix City, AL, at the Gr8 Sk8 Plex: Tex Monroe defeated Danny Only. After the match, Wicked Nemesis approached Only and offered his managerial services. Only declined. Wicked said he’d give him 7 days to render an official answer. Kyle Matthews defeated Chip Day. GCW owner Diane Hewes said Cru Jones didn’t have the authority to deny anyone a title shot. Quentin Michaels came to the ring. He verbally attacked Hewes and threatened legal action, while Hewes threatened to kick his butt again (see Fred Ward 2008). Michaels proposed that the winners of the main event (MOD Vs. Valentine/J-ROD) would determine who would face Hot Like Lava next week for the tag titles. John Bogie & Kareem Abdul Jamar defeated Bobby Moore & Ron Stalker (with Princeton Gainey) when Jamar pinned Stalker. Rob Adonis beat Cru Jones via DQ, but Jones retained because the title can’t change hands on a DQ. Jones used a steel chain to score the pin. J-Rod stooged off finish to the ref, who reversed the decision. J-Rod & Frankie Valentine defeated Orion Bishop & Murder One (with Wicked Nemesis). Cru Jones attempt to interfere on MOD’s behalf backfired, causing Bishop to be pinned by J-Rod. Bishop was furious at Jones and Michaels, who walked away saying not our problem. J-rod said since the winner determined the title shot, they were giving it to MOD. Nemesis said MOD would destroy Hot Like Lava next week.

It was announced that Eddie Graham would be wrestling on the card on March 15, 1963, and that Lou Thesz would be wrestling on the card on March 29, 1963. However, it was reported that the champion and his father, Dory Funk, Sr., had been in an accident earlier in the week, when their pickup truck overturned on their ranch in Amarillo, TX, causing injuries that would prevent him from meeting the commitment. During the match, the Zodiac removed Mr. Wrestling’s mask, but his head was quickly covered by ringside fans who threw coats over him as he returned to the dressing room, keeping his hidden identity intact. Jack Crawford managed Tarzan Tyler. J.C. Dykes managed the Zodiac and the Super Infernos. The program for this card was the first to mention the actual business name of Mid-South Sports, Inc. It credited ring announcer Jim Bell as being the editor for the programs, Chris Casey as a columnist, and photographers Bill Evans and Chuck Lawhorn were also mentioned.
