Tony Schiavone reportedly signs a deal with AEW this past Thursday, will remain on MLW

Tony Schiavone to AEW

Tony Schiavone has reached a deal with AEW according to reports by PWInsider and F4WOnline.

The deal was reportedly signed this past Thursday. Schiavone was also apparently pursued by WWE, but he instead agreed to the deal with AEW. Schiavone has done work with AEW in the past on their “Being The Elite” series on YouTube.

Schiavone, 61, is the current play-by-play broadcaster for the Gwinnett Stripers of baseball’s International League, as well as a commentator for Major League Wrestling. Schiavone will continue on with MLW while working with AEW.

There is no word yet on what capacity Schiavone will serve in AEW. The broadcast team currently consists of Jim Ross, Excalibur, and Alex Marvez.

This will mark the return of Tony Schiavone to TNT, where he served as the voice of WCW Monday Nitro from 1996 to 2001 when the company was purchased by the then-WWF.
