Billy Corgan Leads Famed Wrestling Brand to Its Roots

Atlanta, GA — 9/26/19 The National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), professional wrestling’s oldest sanctioning body, makes its return to Atlanta, GA to produce a new weekly series from Georgia Public Broadcasting Studios.   The NWA was acquired by Lightning One, Inc (famed rock star and Smashing Pumpkins’ front-man Billy Corgan’s production company) back in the summer of 2017.   The NWA reintroduced the brand to the public with “Ten Pounds Of Gold”, a digital YouTube Series, documenting the journey of the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion around the globe.  Champions like Tim Storm, Cody Rhodes, and Nick Aldis starred in this series; tying their legacy as champion to greats like Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, Lou Thesz, Terry & Dory Funk Jr, Harley Race, Ricky Steamboat, AJ Styles, Jeff Jarrett, Adam Pearce, Colt Cabana, Jack Brisco and fifty other great wrestlers.  The National Wrestling Alliance celebrated its 70th year in 2018 by participating in the ALL IN event in Chicago, IL and running the 70th Anniversary show from Nashville, TN.   In 2019, the NWA returned to pay-per-view with The Crockett Cup tag team tournament which was headlined by Nick Aldis vs. Marty Scurll for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship.
