TICKETS NOW ON SALE FOR “RING ROASTS III: GET CORNY”
The third installment of what has become a wrestling tradition, has been officially announced. “Ring Roasts III” will take place on Friday, October 15, 2010 at the Crowne Plaza in Mornoe, NJ, and this year’s guest of honor is Jim Cornette.
Cornette spent his career working through the territories and all the majors, but his wrestling afterlife, filled with unhealthy diatribes and tongue-lashings to all who dare cross him, is where he gained his most recent notoriety. Cornette, in so many ways, is the perfect roastee.
Guests that have been announced so far include Al Snow, Bob Holly, Dutch Mantel, Nick Dinsmore, Amy Lee, and roastmaster Bill Apter, with many more names to be announced in the months to come. Sean Oliver of co-promoting entity Kayfabe Commentaries (together with Legends of the Ring) says the guest list is the key to a successful Ring Roasts. “First and foremost, this is entertainment,” says Oliver. “You need a touch of reverence, a touch of irreverence, a touch of comedy. The night has to go someplace.”
Ring Roasts Friday will be followed by the massive Legends of the Ring convention at the same location, held Saturday October 16, 2010. The annual event has become a destination for wrestling fans all over the world, literally. “I’m floored when a fan comes up to me at Ring Roasts, or Legends of the Ring, and says they flew in from England, or even Canada,” Oliver says. “Our Friday night events, together with LOTR’s Saturday conventions make this the only game in town.”
