Former WCW star Van Hammer charged with DUI and hit and run on five-year old boy

As per TMZ Sports on Monday, former WCW star Van Hammer (real name Mark Hildreth) has been arrested and charged with DUI after he allegedly hit a five-year old boy with his car on Sunday while driving drunk in Boyton Beach, Florida.

The following is according to the Boyton Beach Police Department report taken from the Palm Beach Post:

Mark Hildreth, age 60 is charged with leaving the scene of an injury crash and DUI with injuries.

He was driving 58 mph in a 35 mph zone, and was drunk when he hit the five-year old boy, who was riding on a bike with training wheels. Upon being hit, the boy was said to have been thrown atop of the hood of Hildreth’s vehicle.  

The boy was taken late Sunday as a trauma patient to Delray Medical Center, with non life-threatening internal injuries and remains in stable condition.

Hildreth was officially charged with first degree felony hit and run, and DUI.

On Monday, Hildreth appeared in handcuffs at the Palm Beach County Jail, before Circuit Judge Ted S. Booras who set bail for Hildreth at $125,000, with an option for house arrest.

Judge Booras also ordered Hildreth to stay away from drugs, alcohol and weapons. 

Prosecutors also indicated that Hildreth had a 2004 DUI arrest in the state of Georgia. 

Hildreth, as Van Hammer wrestled in WCW from 1991 to 1993.  He had brief stint with then the WWF in 1993 before returning to WCW in 1994, until he was released from his contract in 2000.

After leaving WCW for the second time, he wrestled for Maryland Championship Wrestling from 2001 until his retirement in 2003.
