Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson give details on Heyman, WWE release and more

We reported yesterday that former WWE Superstars Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson announced on the recent episode of the “Talk ‘N Shop” podcast they have signed with IMPACT Wrestling, and will be at tonight’s Slammiversay pay-per-view.

Below are details from the recent video podcast with Gallows and Anderson discussing details on Paul Heyman, their WWE release, talks with NJPW, IMPACT, AEW and more.

Both Gallows and Anderson, during the podcast, discussed the offers they received from WWE, AEW, NJPW and IMPACT when their WWE contracts were ending back in 2019.

They said the contract with NJPW would be been exclusive to the company.

They then said that NJPW later changed the offer that would have also allowed them to work in AEW.  Anderson said that NJPW creative wanted him to do a program with Jon Moxley that would have eventually led to a match between the two at Wrestle Kingdom.

Gallows and Anderson provided details on a meeting they had with AEW Executive Vice President’s The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega.  Anderson said that they received a text message from Matt Jackson in June 2019.  AEW had plans for them to make their debut on the very first episode of AEW Dynamite.  He said that he and Gallows were offered a two-year contract by AEW with an option for a third year.  It was then that WWE had made a counter-offer for a huge five year-deal.

Gallows said that Triple H was intent on re-signing them with a deal that would set them up for the rest of their lives.  It was then said that the tag team reached a verbal agreement with the WWE, and that the offer was just too big for them to turn down.

Gallows said that he had a meeting scheduled with AEW CEO and President Tony Khan about coming to AEW.  Anderson then said that they had informed The Young Bucks that wanted to come to AEW for several months.  Anderson said that It wasn’t until they accepted WWE’s new offer, that there was heat from key people within AEW.

Anderson said that it was only one week after they had agreed to the new WWE contract, he was scripted to lose to Ricochet in just seconds, with Gallows running in for save, only to then get laid out.  Anderson said that he had thought WWE would at least wait for a few months before WWE would again bury them, but the process of them being buried by WWE began right away.

Anderson said he took his frustrations and concerns to Paul Heyman.  Gallows said he was very skeptical of talking with Heyman, given his track record as being “the biggest bull——in in the business.”  Heyman claimed to both men that if he (Heyman) ever lied to them, they could go on social media and bury him (Heyman).  According to Gallows, AJ Styles had demanded that he be moved to SmackDown so he could get away from Heyman.

Gallows and Anderson said that following their match at WrestleMania 36, they received text messages from WWE officials saying congratulations on the new deal.  Both men said that when WWE began to make cuts after WrestleMania, they did not think that their jobs were going to be part of those cuts since they had just signed the new lucrative deals.

Anderson said that he believes that when the word got out about their new deals and the amount of money they were to be paid, some of the talents higher within WWE, along with some of the agents, probably didn’t like the amount of money they were offered, caused those individuals to push for their release from the company.

Gallows said that the terms of the new contract with IMPACT Wrestling is the same two-year deal they negotiated in 2019, which does allow them to work for NJPW.

They also went on to discuss the trip to Saudi Arabia for the Crown Jewel pay-per-view in 2019 and the rumors and talk about the flight back to the United States being delayed for several hours.
