A GoFundMe Campaign has been launched to save 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, PA from closing for good due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
2300 Arena was previously known as the ECW Arena from 1993 to 2001 when it hosted ECW television tapings and ECW’s first-ever PPV, Barely Legal. It then later became known as the XPW Arena when it was home to Xtreme Pro Wrestling from 2002 to 2003.
The venue’s official name during the ECW days was Viking Hall. The southern part of the building gained its recognition as the ECW Arena with the promotion’s rise in popularity until its closure in April 2001. WWE later purchased the assets of the company from bankruptcy in January 2003, and then would relaunch ECW in 2006.
The venue has also hosted Ring of Honor and IMPACT Wrestling television tapings and pay-per-view’s, as well as other independent wrestling events and professional wrestling related conventions. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the venue expanded to host live music, food festivals, and corporate and private events, spanning galas and weddings.
The arena’s current name comes from its address at 2300 South Swanson Street in south Philadelphia.
