Just a couple of weeks ago, after a losing to, Brock Lesnar announced that he was retiring from MMA world. Immediate speculation began as to if and when Lesnar would return to wrestling, WWE in particular. With all the speculation going around, readers of Wrestleview were asked what they thought. In the most recent poll asking about Brock Lesnar’s return to WWE, the results are as follows:
Do you think Brock Lesnar will return to WWE?
Yes, right away 12.39% (420 votes)
Yes, but not for a while 62.96% (2,135 votes)
No, he will not 24.65% (836 votes)
Total votes cast: 3,391
It was right after WrestleMania XVIII that Lesnar made his debut on Raw. He immediately grabbed the attention of the wrestling world and began his rocket ride to the top of WWE. It only took him a few months to become the Undisputed Champion when he unseated The Rock at SummerSlam. For the following year and a half, Lesnar destroyed everything in his path. During WrestleMania weekend in 2004, news broke that Lesnar was on his way out of the company to pursue football. The fans turned on him in Madison Square Garden, feeling betrayed. When Bock Lesnar left WWE in 2004, it left a gaping hole in the roster that wasn’t filled until WWE was able to build up John Cena to take over the top spot. Now with the possibility of his return, the question of what if now runs through the minds of many.
The majority of voters believe that Lesnar will make his return, but not for some time. As Dana White says, he retires under contract. There is always room for negotiation, but there is no immediate need on Lesnar’s part to jump back into things. He has a had a rough couple of years, and a nice long rest to put things in perspective is understandable.
Nearly twenty-five percent of the voters believe that there is no way that Lesnar will ever return. For one, there is the WWE schedule. Would Lesnar be willing to work that again? Perhaps he could get a part-time gig, but does he even want to come back? The guys can pretty much do anything he sets his mind too and he is still fairly young. He may just have a new venture in mind that doesn’t include wrestling.
Finally, a little over twelve percent of voters feel that his return in imminent. With WrestleMania just a matter of weeks away, who know what stops WWE will pull to get Lesnar onboard in some capacity. With how stacked the card is already, it could be hard to find a place for Brock. There is also the possibility that they wait until after WrestleMania so as not to distract from Rock, Shaq, and everything else the company has going on during WrestleMania time. Once thing is for sure, if Bock Lesnar does indeed return to WWE, fans will welcome him back with open arms.
Thanks to all those who participated and be sure to vote in the current Wrestleview poll asking who will win the 2012 Royal Rumble!
