SPOILERS: NWA Hard Times TV tapings: Matches taped on 3/2 in Dothan, AL

Josh Boutwell attended the NWA Hard Times television tapings for Powerrr, which took place at the Dothan Civic Center in Dothan, Alabama on Saturday, March 2.

The show will air on the CW App.

This was the first time a TV taping has come to Dothan since 1998, when WCW taped Saturday Night here. There seemed to be around 1,000 or 1,500 in attendance. It was a bigger crowd than the last time TNA did a house show here.

NWA announced they will return for another TV taping on December 14. The taping will be called “Looks That Kill.”

-NWA World Jr. Heavyweight Title: Joe Alonzo defeated Colby Corino (c) to win the title! Alonzo low blowed Corino and hit a Flatliner to take the title away from Corino, the son of ECW legend Steve Corino.

-La Rosa Negra and Ruthie Jay defeated Tiffany Nieves and Reka Tehaka. This was Negra’s return to NWA and she looked good in her return. She got the pin with a Frog Splash.

-Spencer Slade w/Rolando defeated Jake Dumas with an Angle Slam off the top after his manager interferred.

-NWA U.S. Tag Team Titles Tournament: The Fixers defeated JAC and Tim Storm. Storm, the former NWA World Champion, seems to have aged 20 years in the last four. The Fixers won with a Front Slam on JAC.

-Taylor Rising defeated Miss Star with a rollup.

-NWA U.S. Tag Team Titles Tournament: Talos & Daisy Kill defeated Mecha Wolf and Alex Misery.

This was my favorite match of the night. Before the match officially even started, Misery did an insane Moonsault off the top of the stage wall onto a bunch of security guards. Talos pinned Misery after Chokeslamming him on top of Mecha Wolf.

-Last Call Grude Match: AJ Cazana w/KC Cazana defeated Anthony Andrews w/Masked Cyon & Austin Idol.

This was a weird match. The stipulation was that the winner of the match would get to choose which of the opposing tag team members would be fired from NWA. Why was this not just simply a tag team match? Your guess is as good as mine. CJ pinned Anrdrews with a Powerslam and the Country Gentlemen picked Andrews to be fired. – Miserably Faithful (Max the Impaler, Judais & Gaagz the Gymp) w/Father James Mitchell defeated Magnum Muscle (Mims & Dak Draper) & Drake. Max and Judais hit a Clothesline/Spear combo on Draper for the pin. After the match, Mims turned on Draper and eventually threw him through the stage wall.

-The Kidz def. The Slimeballz after a Super Bomb and Swanton Bomb

-Bryan Idol came out and invited his “friend”, who was former WWE star “Top Dolla” AJ Francis. Francis cut a promo saying that he just used Idol and that he no longer needs him and talked trash on Alabama and the crowd. They then had a No DQ Match. Francis tried to put Idol through a door but threw himself through it. The finish came when Francis Chokeslammed Idol through a table.

-NWA Women’s Tag Team Titles: The King Bees (c) def. Pretty Empowered in a 2/3 Falls Match. Danni Bee of the King Bees pinned Emma Envy of Pretty Empowered quickly with a rollup for the first fall. The next fall came when Kylie Page of Pretty Empowered hit a Flying Dropkick on Charity King of The King Bees. The third fall was won by the Bees after King hit a Front Slam on Envy.

-NWA National Heavyweight Title: Thom Lattimer def. Paul Burchill, Masked Cyon w/Austin Idol and Blake Troop in a 4-Way for the vacant title. Great match that was nonstop action. Lattimer hit a Sitout Powerbomb on Troop to win the title.

-BLK Jeez walked out and cut a pretty great promo.

He was diagnosed with cancer last year and thought his career was over but has been cancer free since last October. In January, Jeez was shot in Philadelphia. He said after all that it was good to be finally back in NWA.

-NWA World Tag Team Titles: Blunt Force Trauma (c) w/Aron Stevens def. The Immortals to retain the titles. Stevens interferred in the match and BFT got the win with a dropkick.

-NWA World Women’s Title: Kenzie Paige (c) def. Natalia Markova to retain the title. There was a ton of nearfalls in this match and it was pretty good until the finish, which they botched a bit. After the match, Vampiro came out and offered Markova black roses but she threw them down.

-NWA World Heavyweight Title: Ethan Carter III (c) def. Silas Mason to retain the title. After a ton of really great action in the night, this was a dissapointing World Title Match. EC3 just seems like he’s going through the motions. Mason actually kicked out of a One Percenter after one but EC3 hit a Hanging DDT and another One Percenter to retain the title. EC3 was busted open during the match.

-Steel Cage Match: Knox & Murdoch def. The Southern 6 (Kerry Morton & Alex Taylor) w/Ricky Morton.

Murdoch was bleeding all over the place in this one. Great match between these two. A midget wrestler – who I wasn’t familiar with – came out and dove off the top of the cage onto The Southern 6 after Ricky Morton got involved and threw powder in Murdoch and Knox’s faces. Murdoch escaped the cage to win it for his team. A fun night of action that didn’t feel like the cosplay territory studio wrestling shows that I came to look at NWA as doing over the last several years. This felt like a solid TV Taping with a hot crowd and I’m excited for them to come back.
