Kayfabe Commentaries responds to Cornette statement

Kayfabe Commentaries issued the following today.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

April 12, 2012

It’s been unfortunately and errantly reported by Jim Cornette that Kayfabe Commentaries has in some way been misrepresenting any involvement by him in the June 1st “YouShoot LIVE: Vince Russo” event (www.youshootlive.com). This is untrue, and while any fan, worker, announcer, or manager is welcome to submit questions to any “YouShoot” program, we did not advertise his doing so for this event. It seems Mr. Cornette objects to Vince Russo having mentioned that he wouldn’t be surprised if he heard from him during the show.

We did not book this event with the expectation or requirement that Jim participate, despite his hundreds of hours of publically available discussion of Russo. This, of course, includes promos shot for Ring Roasts III in 2010 wherein he challenges Russo to a bare knuckle brawn in the ballroom of the Crowne Plaza at his Roast. That promo was the brainchild of Mr Cornette and mentioned Russo, whom we had no intention of booking for the event. There was apparently no ethical violation in that case.

In short, we have not, and will not, promise the involvement of anyone for whom he have not yet received a video submission. There will be plenty to discuss at “YouShoot LIVE: Vince Russo” and lots of entertainment value to be had by fans all over the world, as is consistent with all of the productions generated by Kayfabe Commentaries. All of this seems common sense to me and, hopefully, rational folk as well.

Despite his misrepresentations and pleas for a boycott, we are quite fond of Jim Cornette, accept him as he is, and appreciate his contributions to both KC, and the wrestling industry at large – a wrestling industry that no doubt stands shocked and amazed that Jim Cornette has overreacted and become unreasonably emotional at a perceived slight.

Onward,

Sean Oliver
