Chuck Coates has passed away at the age of 63 after dealing with cardiac issues in recent weeks, per PWInsider.
Coates was used regularly on television in WCW and the World Wrestling Federation, wrestling the likes of The Big Bossman, Akeem, Sting, and Dustin Rhodes, and was notable for being able to work as a heel or babyface depending on what was needed.
He wrestled regularly on the independent circuit in such promotions as SAPW and the NAWA, with such gimmicks as Mad Maxx in the Carolinas region, and even toured in WWC in Puerto Rico against the likes of Rex King and Ray Gonzalez.
Coates was last seen competing for Mid-Atlantic Territory Wrestling earlier this year.
Wrestleview extends its condolences to the family, friends, and fans of Chuck Coates.
